Tom Cruise Suffers Crushing Defeat to Margot Robbie at Box Office as ‘Barbie’ is On Its Way to Secure $308 Million Opening Weekend Collection
In what seems to be the biggest opening day collection for this year so far Greta Gerwig’s Barbie has made a record-breaking history. The film was released on Friday two days ago alongside Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. Keeping all this in view it has been predicted that Barbie might surpass the total collection of another highly-grossing movie Mission Impossible 7.
The Tom Cruise-starrer film was one of the highly talked about films of the year, especially after his last year’s hit Top Gun: Maverick. But now it’s seemingly all about Gerwig’s project as far as it is concerned.
Greta Gerwig’s Barbie Predicted to Surpass Mission Impossible 7 Box-Office Collection
It has only been three days since Greta Gerwig’s Barbie was released in theatres worldwide and seemingly all the hype around the film is reflecting on its box-office collection. On the opening day itself, the movie collections reached 70.5 Million dollars. And according to Deadline, over the three-day weekend, the film is expected to make around 300 million dollars which is almost equal to Mission Impossible 7′s total box office which is 370.9 million dollars.
The seventh installment in the Mission: Impossible series was a highly anticipated film of the year no doubt.
If that would be the case, then Barbie will become the fourth film in Hollywood with the biggest weekend earning. It would also give the title of a woman director with the biggest opening weekend collection to Gerwig.
Adding to this fact, the film also had the highest pre-ticket sale of all the Warner Bros films amounting to 22.3 million dollars. The total budget of the movie is 150 million dollars which as far as it can be seen the film won’t have any problem collecting back.
