He was introduced to the world of the billion-dollar franchise MCU with his 2016 movie Captain America: Civil War. From then onwards, the actor has never looked back as his career skyrocketed with a slew of hits at the box office. Recently he opened up about replacing the former Spider-Man Andrew Garfield and why the actor regrets not informing the ex-Marvel star about the transition.

Tom Holland Regrets Doing This With Andrew Garfield

A few actors have no haters just like nobody hates Tom Holland. The actor has a loyal fan base across the globe. During an interview with the reputed media outlet The Hollywood Reporter, the Spider-Man actor opened up on one of the biggest regrets of his life. While recalling the announcement of replacing Andrew Garfield in the Marvel’s  Spider-Man franchise, the actor mentioned how bad he felt for the Under The Silver Lake star. Tom Holland mentioned-

“That’s because of my naivete as a kid. I was 19 when I got cast. I was so caught up in getting the role that I never took any time to think about what it must have been like for him.”

He added-

“If I’d made my second movie and it didn’t necessarily deliver in the way it should have done, and they recast me, I would really struggle to bounce back. Andrew bounced back in the most unbelievable way. I just wish I’d called him and just said, ‘You know I can’t turn down this opportunity.’”

However, actor Tobey Maguire, the first face of the Spider-Man franchise was replaced by Andrew Garfield in 2012 released The Amazing Spider-Man alongside Emma Stone who played his love interest Gwen Stacey. Tom Holland has struggled with mental health issues. Recently, the actor opened up about the mental pressure of his profession. He mentioned-

“I’m no stranger to the physical aspects of the job doing the whole action-movie thing. But the mental aspect, it really beats me up and it took a long time for me to recover afterward, to sort of get back to reality.”

Tom Holland Is Emotionally Exhausted After Filming For The Crowded Room

The web crawler of Marvel, Tom Holland is making headlines with his Apple TV+ psychological thriller The Crowded Room. The Oscar-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman is the brain behind the miniseries, which is inspired by the non-fiction novel by Daniel Keyes, The Minds Of Billy Milligan. The miniseries narrates the true story of Billy Milligan, who used to commit crimes based on his dissociative identity disorder. Tom Holland is playing the protagonist Danny Sullivan.

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor opened up about his experience of working on the series. He mentioned that the filming of The Crowded Room took a toll on his mental health. The actor confessed-

“We were exploring certain emotions that I have definitely never experienced before. And then on top of that, being a producer dealing with the day-to-day kind of problems that come with any film set added that extra level of pressure.”I really enjoyed it, but then again, the show did break me.”

Tom Holland is the executive producer of The Crowded Room and after juggling with the mentally taxing role the actor said he is “taking a year off.” He looks forward to spending his time “trying to be, you know, a regular bloke from Kingston and just relax.”

The Avengers: Endgame actor even said that after wrapping up the series, he has been “seeing my family. I’ve been seeing my friends. I’ve been playing golf. I’ve been, you know, going to the garden center and buying plants and doing my best to keep them alive and all that sort of stuff.”

The actor even found it very difficult to detach from his character after nine months of filming the miniseries. He said-

“I was seeing myself in him, but in my personal life. I remember having a bit of a meltdown at home and thinking, like, ‘I’m going to shave my head. I need to shave my head because I need to get rid of this character.’ And, obviously, we were mid-shooting, so I decided not to… It was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before.”

The first episode of The Crowded Room was streamed on June 9, 2023, on Apple TV+, apart from Tom Holland, the psychological thriller has reputed names from Hollywood like- Amanda Seyfried, Emmy Rossum, Sasha Lane, Christopher Abbott, and Emma Laird.
