“U dont get to chose that for me”: Despite Being Engaged To Bon Jovi’s Son Drake “groomed” Stranger Things Star Millie Bobby Brown?
Stranger Things fame Millie Bobby Brown is often making headlines for several reasons, her newest business venture, a new acting project, and as of late, her relationship with Jake Bongiovi, son of famous American singer Jon Bon Jovi. The British actress sent fans into a frenzy when she announced her engagement to her boyfriend of over two years this past June.
However, a story that made headlines in the past is resurfacing. The Enola Holmes actress was pals with Canadian rapper Drake when she was fourteen. Although the status of their friendship is unknown after Brown’s engagement, it was found inappropriate by many at the time. When the actress turned eighteen last year, there was some controversy about their relationship.
Millie Bobby Brown and Drake’s Friendship
Millie Bobby Brown is arguably the most successful celebrity in her generation. She started out at just eleven years of age and was catapulted to global stardom with the success of Netflix’s Stranger Things. Soon after becoming a household name, the young actress was networking and charming big names in the entertainment industry like Mariah Carrey and Drake among others.
However, her friendship with Drake didn’t sit right with netizens and was frowned upon. Things got a bit heated in public perception of their relationship when Brown turned eighteen years old in 2021 and an impostor Drake on TikTok came into play.
A TikTok user @skylarsheerman, posted a clip of the pictures of Brown she posted for her 18th birthday in a sparkly blue dress with the text “Drake after Millie’s 18th birthday announcement.” The TikTok had the audio from SpongeBob SquarePants that said, “Finally, I’ve been trying to catch you boys all day.”
The clip insinuated that Brown is a legal adult for the rapper to pursue something more. And resurfaced the alleged grooming allegations and the inappropriateness of the stars’ friendship. A verified account posing as the Hotline Bling rapper commented under the video, which only added fuel to the fire.
Drake’s representatives clarified the situation saying that the rapper is not officially on the platform. However, the situation only got nastier as rumors flew high. Brown had to speak up on the situation.
Millie Bobby Brown Speaks Up for Her Pal Drake
When things got a bit out of hand, Brown took to her Instagram Story to speak on the situation. Ever since her initial fame in the industry, the actress’s life has been a fodder for the tabloids. And being young and female, there has also been some subliminal messaging and judgment around her life choices. Her friendship with the Canadian rapper is one of those choices.
And she found it necessary to speak on the matter.
This happened in February 2022, when Brown turned 18. She has since launched her coffee brand, gotten engaged, and certainly has more projects in the pipeline. The rapper has been busy as well. But with Brown coming to defend her friend, it is safe to assume that their friendship lives on.
