Vin Diesel Says $6.9B Fast and Furious Franchise Branching Off into Multiple Spin-Offs after Finale Trilogy

The actor is best known for depicting Dominic Toretto in the Fast & Furious franchise. In the latest interview with Variety at the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project block party, Diesel revealed that fans could anticipate more Fast and Furious spin-offs soon.
Vin Diesel Reveals That Several Fast & Furious Spin-offs Are in the Works
Vin Diesel has established himself as a solid action-hero figure in showbiz. The actor has worked with several big banner houses, including Marvel Cinematic Universe. From starring in minor roles to appearing in commercially successful films, Diesel’s journey has been inspiring to say the least. The actor is best known for portraying his widely celebrated fictional character Dominic Toretto, in the Fast & Furious franchise.
Vin Diesel appeared in the 2023 American action film Fast X, the highly anticipated eleventh installment in the Fast & Furious franchise, which hit the theatres recently to an outstanding worldwide box office opening of nearly $320 million. The movie features a star-studded cast, like Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, John Cena, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Scott Eastwood, Helen Mirren, Brie Larson, Jason Momoa, and Charlize Theron.
In his latest tell-all interview, the actor also confirmed that more sequel projects are in the works in the Fast & Furious franchise following the release of Fast X. To this, Vin Diesel told Variety,
“I started developing the female-led spin-off in the Fast and Furious franchise in 2017, along with the other spin-offs. And the sooner I deliver the Fast and Furious finale, the sooner I can launch all the spin-offs. Fast X is the first part of a two-part ending. But it is bittersweet to think of a finale for the franchise.”
During his conversation at the Rome premiere with the media, he stated,
“Look how many characters and great talent there are in the movie. There was no way I could pull that off unless I had everyone on for five seconds. These characters are appealing, and we need to see more of them.”
The titular film features the surprising return of Gal Gadot and Dwayne Johnson. Vin Diesel admitted that it was difficult keeping their cameos under wraps. The actor said,
“I’m so excited to have them back home and even more excited to see fan reactions and to see how happy it makes people.”
A Brief Note on Vin Diesel’s Career
Vin Diesel made his feature debut in the 1997 American drama Strays, and his performance in the movie piqued the attention of many directors. The actor later got the opportunity to appear in Steven Spielberg’s war drama Saving Private Ryan in 1998, which received critical acclaim.
