Josh Brolin Was Savagely Trolled By Ethan Coen During The Filming Of No Country For Old Men
Josh Brolin appeared on the YouTube chat show Hot Ones during the promotion of his series Outer Range in 2022. While talking about his project, the Marvel actor recounted a story from his No Country For Old Men days. According to Brolin, he had suggested that his character should say something when he stumbles upon a dead man in the satchel. Ethan Coen made him do several grunts, before settling on the one that was added to the project. Josh Brolin mentioned-
When we were doing No Country [For Old Men], you know, everything was pretty much drawn and you kind of knew what you were doing and it wasn’t dialogue heavy so there wasn’t a lot of stuff to experiment with, and change, but I know when I got the satchel and I opened it up, I said, ‘Don’t you think he should say something. He looks at the dead guy and he looks around and you can tell he’s thinking about what is this, what do I want to do with this, and shouldn’t there be a little something there?” And Joel [Coen] goes, “Well, like what?”
He further explained-
And I said, “I don’t know, like a ‘huh’ or a ‘hm.'” And they go, “Is there anything else?” And I go, “Like ‘hmm?'” And they go, “What else?” And, now you’re thinking, “They’re f*cking with me, right?” So, I went through about six of them and Ethan said, “Try the second one.”
While talking about Ethan Coen’s actions, he said-
So, I did the second one and then every time we screened the movie I always knew where Ethan was in the theater, because every time that moment happened he would burst out laughing. So, was it a joke, or did it help the movie and the scene? We’ll never know. [Joking] Any kind of film that they’ve come out with and they’ve manifested that’s good is an accident. Not because of skill or anything.
No Country For Old Men went on top to win multiple accolades during the 80th Academy Awards. Ethan Coen’s critically acclaimed project featured actors including Javier Bardem, Tommy Lee Jones, Woody Harrelson, and Kelly Macdonald.
Josh Brolin Wrote Unique Summary For Dune: Part Two
Recently, Josh Brolin posted a small summary of the upcoming chapter of Dune on social media. He used the names of the characters played by his co-stars previously in the summary. The Instagram post was captioned as
“Robot Lady & Wonka fall in love. Then Elvis tries to fuck it all up while his bad dad floats in a pool of pond scum. The WWE dude from Guardians gets super pissed while Midsommar hottie puts the eyes on Wonka Obi-Wan just after his Mom gets caught taking LSD in a sandy bathroom.”
The short summary by the Avengers star further mentioned-
“Chigurh still doesn’t like the guy from The Goonies. The pandemic is over. Strikes have come and gone. Fuck it. It’s time to commune again and experience that amazing feeling of when the lights go down, you have your hand in your Popcorn worm, and DUNE 2 consumes you.”
With a box office collection of $433 million, the 2021 released Dune went on to become a massive financial blockbuster and paved a path for the second chapter of the fantasy drama. Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two is one of the most anticipated projects of 2024.
