Director Shawn Levy acknowledged the legacy created by Fox and appreciated it by stating that Wolverine and Deadpool became iconic under Fox’s banner. Speaking in the latest issue of Total Film magazine per Deadline, Shawn Levy said:
“Deadpool and Wolverine are iconic Marvel characters; more specifically, iconic Marvel-of-the-Fox-era characters. We’re not going to pretend: ‘Oh, we snap our fingers, and suddenly that Fox legacy doesn’t exist, and it shaped a lot of what we now know as the MCU.’ Fox also shaped Ryan’s career, Hugh’s career, and my career. So there’s a lot of history there, and there’s a lot of Marvel history at Fox. And certainly, that’s a part of our storytelling.”
Levy even claimed that Fox not only made the two characters eminent but also shaped Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds’s careers and crafted them as superstars. The director assured that his upcoming movie will pay tribute to 20th Century Fox for bringing to life – successful and crowd-pleasing characters. Deadpool 3 will also delve into Marvel’s far-reaching movie history in an extraordinary way which is another reason why fans are jumping for joy.
