As Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker is getting a sequel, director Todd Phillips, celebrating the 4th year of the iconic prequel, teases fans with a cryptic image of Joaquin Phoenix, hinting at the character’s evolution in the Joker: Folie à Deux. While Demond is still rough, Todd Phillips has recently shared a still of Joaquin Phoenix from the upcoming movie on Instagram
It’s been four years since Gotham’s notorious clown captivated the audience. Joaquin Phoenix, who gave life to the Batman villain in his Joker as Arthur Fleck, has become the synonym for the character. The first movie focused on the character and his eventful transition to a sociopath. Since the specific story details for Joker 2 are being kept close to the vest, the second movie is expected to venture into the further journey of the transformation.
In the Instagram post featuring Joaquin Phoenix from the upcoming sequel the Joker is seen standing in the rain with his eyes closed. He is surrounded by four people, whose faces are not visible, holding colorful umbrellas. The post is captioned, “Thanks for all the messages. “Four years ago, we had quite a ride. There are lots of great memories. More to come”.
Todd Phillips wraps up the sequel with the first glimpse of Clown Prince and Quinn
The upcoming Joker 2, where Joaquin Phoenix reprises his lead role, alongside Lady Gaga who will be playing Harley Quinn. Previously, this year, fans got their first glimpse of the Clown Prince of Crime and his ‘puddin’ on Valentine’s Day. Similarly, fans received a better look at the character in a follow-up post by Phillips which featured, Lady Gaga’s Quinn with smudged makeup, commenting,
“That’s a wrap. Thanks to these two (plus the entire cast) and the BEST crew that the film industry has to offer. From top to bottom. Gonna crawl into a cave now (edit room) and put it all together”.
Besides Phoenix and Gaga, the movie is ensnared with an impressive cast, including Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, Harry Lawtey, and Zazie Beetz, who will return as Sophie Dumond, Arthur’s love interest from the first film of the Joker franchise.
The Joker movie went on to gross a staggering $1.07 billion worldwide, becoming one of the highest-grossing DC movies. In light of the success, the anticipation around the sequel movie is on high-stakes and is expected to hit theaters by October of next year.
