According to Bruckheimer, Disney is rebooting the franchise with a younger cast.

Jerry Bruckheimer reveals Disney is developing two projects for the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise

In a recent interview, producer Jerry Bruckheimer revealed his plans for the future of the Pirates franchise. The producer was asked about the sequel of the Pirates of the Caribbean movie, and why it is taking so long for the upcoming sequel. Bruckheimer talked about how they are getting close to finalizing the sequel.

The producer also talked about him developing two projects as the sequel to Dead Men Tell No Tales. He said, “We have a very good script. We developed two of them — the one with Margot Robbie and one with a younger cast.” He further talked about how the one with the younger cast is closer to being finished than the one with Margot Robbie.

The interviewer cross-questioned Bruckheimer about Margot Robbie denying her being in the Pirates of the Caribbean sequel. He explained that the project is still a work in progress but not a dead end. He said, “It’s alive for me. It’s alive for Disney.” “We believe we’ll get it made. It’s a very strong story,” he further added.

The producers want to have Johnny Depp in the movie

The interviewer then asked him if he would like to get back Johnny Depp in the franchise. He asked, “Does the recent trial outcome make Johnny Depp somebody a studio like Disney would put front and center again in a Pirates sequel?” Bruckheimer replied to this that he does not have any clue about that, nor is he in a position to answer a question like that. Further putting his personal opinions on the subject, Bruckheimer revealed that he would love to have Depp back on the project. He said,

I would love to have him in the movie. He’s a friend, a terrific actor and it’s unfortunate that personal lives creep into everything we do.

Johnny Depp has already previously announced that he will never go back to playing the role of Captain Jack Sparrow again. Depp decided on this as Disney had dropped him from the sixth installment of the franchise even before any proof of violence was presented before the world. After the world witnessed the infamous defamation trial between him and Amber Heard, fans have begged him to reprise his role as the beloved pirate. But, Depp has not made any further statement on the matter yet.
