The way she rose through the ranks in society in an era of male dominance is indeed very inspirational. Everyone paid their tribute as they knew her for being a professional and a dedicated journalist. However, it came as quite a bit of a surprise when the legendary English singer Sir Paul McCartney revealed that he was related to Walters.

Sir Paul McCartney paid his tribute to Barbara Walters

The legendary singer, Sir Paul McCartney revealed that he was related to Barbara Walters. The Beatles member took to Twitter to share his heartfelt tribute to Walters. McCartney revealed that Walters was a cousin to his wife, Nancy Shevell. He further talked about how the two cousins shared a loving bond. He wrote, “The two of them enjoyed a deep loving relationship over many years and I was proud to share some of those special moments.

Sir Paul McCartney further talked about how Walters was an incredible journalist. He also talked about Walters making “her own in the early days of male-dominated television.Barbara Walters was the first woman anchor on an evening news show. The incredible journalist is also known for how she was never phased even when interviewing high-profile celebrities. Walters interviewed many celebrities throughout her career, like Michael Jackson, Elton John, Caitlyn Jenner, and many more.

McCartney further wrote, “We will miss her but always remember her with great fondness.

Whoopi Goldberg appreciates the American journalism legend

Whoopi Goldberg has been the co-host of The View for almost 15 years, and Barbara Walters was the one who motivated her to take the job. In a podcast episode of Behind the Table, Goldberg talked about how Walters changed her life. She said, “Barbara Walters gave this to me on a silver platter and said ‘I want you to do this.’ ” She further added how Walters has impacted her life and other women journalists’ life, saying,

She means the world to me and a whole bunch of women who have done this show. We all know we are walking on the shoulders of Barbara Walters.
