David Schwimmer and Jennifer Aniston Saved the Cast of Friends

Talking about this in an interview, Jennifer Aniston opened up about the challenge that would have potentially damaged the dynamics of the show and its cast. Recalling this Aniston said that there was a point during the second season where the off-screen chemistry of the entire cast was on a stake.

Reportedly during the second season the popularity of Ross and Rachel aka David Schwimmer and Jennifer Aniston was at its peak due to their onscreen romance, which also led both of them to get paid more than the other cast members. Talking about this to The Wall Street Journal Aniston admitted that this raise in both of their paychecks would have potentially torn the cast apart.

However, to overcome this issue all six of them sat together and demanded equal pay. Talking about this Aniston said “It would’ve destroyed us, I think, if someone was soaring financially. It was more about, ‘We’re doing equal work and we all deserve to be compensated in the same way.’ I wouldn’t feel good going to work knowing someone was getting x amount and I was getting something greater.”

Not only this both Schwimmer and Aniston reportedly took pay cuts to ensure that all six of them were paid the same amount. This later led all six of them to earn $1 million per episode by the end of the show.
