Ever since she separated from her partner in June, she continues to make headlines for negative reasons. The singer, however, is looking forward to a positive aspect and has recently shared a milestone she achieved with her hit song, Hips Don’t Lie.
Shakira Celebrates 1 Billion Streams on Spotify
The 45-year-old Colombian singer, Shakira is now focusing on the positive aspect of her life. On Wednesday, the singer shared a huge milestone with her fans on Instagram by celebrating achieving one billion Spotify streams of her 2005 hit Hips Don’t Lie.
Written by the singer along with Jean, Jerry Duplessis, Omar Alfanno, and LaTavia Parker, it achieved global success reaching number one in 18 countries, including the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, becoming her first and only number one hit to date in the United States.
She flexed the milestone by posting a picture of herself alongside the plaque writing on Instagram, “Wow! One billion streams for Hips Don’t Lie. Thank you to @spotify for the plaque, to @wyclefjean for the collaboration, and to all of you for your incredible support.”
The Queen of Latin Music has thanked her fans for supporting her while tagging Spotify and Haitian rapper Wyclef Jean as the rapper featured in the song.

The 45-year-old singer, according to a report by Associated Press, will face trial on charges of tax fraud. Though the trial date is yet to be decided, she could face up to eight years in prison and would have to pay a hefty fine of $24M if convicted.
The Spanish prosecutors have claimed that she allegedly failed to pay nearly $15M in tax on income earned between 2012 to 2014 by claiming that she lived in the Bahamas.
The singer has denied the claims and even rejected a deal with authorities to settle the case. Her rep has already stated she “is fully confident of her innocence” and has always abided by the law. They stated that the popstar has paid all that she owed and an additional $2.8 million as interest.
She is also engaged in a custody lawsuit of her children against ex-partner Gerard Pique. The former couple split back in June this year after dating for more than a decade.
