Mildred Patricia Baena, Baena’s mother, shared that it was her son’s grandmother who revealed the truth about his paternity.
At the time when Mildred was pregnant with Baena, the Terminator star Arnold Schwarzenegger was still married to his wife, Maria Shriver. The couple had been together for 25 years until they announced their separation on May 9, 2011. It was only a few days later that Schwarzenegger publicly acknowledged that he had fathered a child with one of their household staff members, 14 years prior to the disclosure.
Who is Joseph Baena?
Joseph Baena, born on October 2, 1997, is a multi-talented individual excelling in various fields such as real estate, bodybuilding, swimming, and acting. Notably, he is recognized as the son of former California governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger. The revelation of Banea’s true paternity occurred when he turned eight and began to bear a striking resemblance to his father, the renowned Conan star.
In an interview with Men’s Health for their March cover story, Joseph Baena shared the story of how he discovered his biological father. Arnold Schwarzenegger had fathered Baena with Mildred Patricia Baena, his former housekeeper, while still being married to his then-wife.
Reflecting upon the events of 2011, Joseph Baena recounted the public revelation that his father was the iconic Hollywood figure, Schwarzenegger. He said:
“I remember the day very vividly. I was in the eighth grade. Fifth or sixth period. And I get called out of class to leave. And my mom’s there, and she’s like, ‘We gotta go—everyone is finding out about you and who your father is.'”
At the age of eight, Joseph Baena began to bear a striking resemblance to Arnold Schwarzenegger, which reportedly led the former California Governor to realize that Baena was his son. In 2010, Schwarzenegger ensured that Baena and his mother had a home in Bakersfield, California, and were financially supported.
Following his graduation from high school in 2015, Baena enrolled at Pepperdine University, located in Malibu. According to his LinkedIn profile, he completed his studies and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in 2019.
After obtaining his degree, the Los Angeles native joined ARIA Properties, a real estate agency, initially working as an executive assistant. Within a span of two years, Baena climbed the ranks and now serves as a real estate agent in the same firm, showcasing his professional growth and development.

Joseph Baena, following in his father’s footsteps, ventured into the world of acting by creating a short YouTube video titled Bad to the Bone, where he remade Arnold Schwarzenegger’s iconic role as the Terminator.
Recently, Baena was set to make an appearance in a mini-TV series called Off The Grid, demonstrating his growing acting career. Additionally, he has three other projects in the works, yet to be released.
Apart from his acting and real estate endeavors, Joseph Baena is an enthusiastic amateur bodybuilder.

At the age of 18, he began training alongside his father, the legendary multiple Mr. Olympia winner, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Baena’s passion for bodybuilding is evident through his Instagram account, where he frequently shares photos and videos of his gym workouts. With approximately 396,000 followers on the platform, he has garnered a substantial online presence.
During his interview with Men’s Health, Baena expressed his admiration for his father’s influence on his bodybuilding journey. He fondly recalled when Schwarzenegger gifted him The Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding, a gesture that further inspired his dedication to the sport.
