Stephen Amell’s Arrow Co-Creator Opens Up On MCU And DCU

During an appearance on the Aarthi and Siriam Show podcast, the Arrowverse co-creator Marc Guggenheim spoke about superhero movies and how their reception affects the box office. He pointed out that the formula of focusing on quantity over quality will negatively affect the superhero franchise. He said-

“Look, I think so. I think superhero movies are going to become like what Westerns are, which is… it’s a genre that you revisit every now and again. I question how much of this is superhero movie fatigue and how much of this is not-great-superhero-movie fatigue…”

Marc Guggenheim mentioned that Across the Spider-Verse went on to become one of the best movies by Marvel this year because the audience received it well. He explained-

“One of the most successful movies of this year is ‘Across the Spider-Verse’ which is a [movie] with all the tropes including the multiverse and it’s a huge hit. Why is it such a huge hit? Because it’s done so well. I mean, it’s so good. So, I personally don’t think of it in terms of the audience is tired or not tired.”

“I think what the audience is basically telling us with their dollars is to us, for a long time, superhero movies that were not particularly good were doing gangbuster business because of just the flywheel and everything. Thankfully, because I think this is good for comic book movies, I think it’s good for the business, I think it’s good for the audience. Thankfully, I think we’re past that…”

Stephen Amell Is Not A Big Fan Of The WGA And SAG-AFTRA Strikes

Actor Stephen Amell made headlines after the actor spoke about his thoughts on the ongoing strike. The Heels actor mentioned that he supports the WGA and the SAG-AFTRA, but he does not understand the strikes related to the reputed unions. During his appearance at the GalaxyCon in North Carolina, Stephen Amell mentioned-

“I support my union, I do, and I stand with them,” he said. “I do not support striking. I don’t. I think that it is a reductive negotiating tactic, and I find the entire thing incredibly frustrating. And I think that the thinking as it pertains to shows like the show that I’m on that premiered last night, I think it’s myopic.”

According to the SAG-AFTRA strike guidelines, the actors, directors, and production houses are not allowed to promote their projects. However, the Canadian actor’s inability to promote Heels was quite evident with respect to the statement he made about the ongoing crisis in Hollywood. The SAG-AFTRA union is currently on strike against the AMPTP.
