Willow Smith Exposed Jada Smith – A Vocal Feminist – For Being a ‘Cruel and Manipulative’ Mom, Treating Her Differently Than Jaden Because She’s a Girl
Will and Jada Pinkett Smith are cool parents. On the surface, at least. They have always adhered to the view that your children aren’t your property. If you need a guide on how to be a progressive parent, they are the ones you want to get in touch with.
But not everything that glitters is gold. According to claims made by Willow Smith, her parents are not as progressive as they claim to be. According to her, they discriminated against her. Why? Because she is a girl.
The kids gotta take control of their life
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have always preached that as parents, you ought to forgive your kids for the mistakes they make. They have subscribed to the view that punishment and parenting do not go together. But when it comes to their own kids, they take another route altogether. They also want their children to make their own decisions in life. They want their children to be on their own until and unless they are about to make a decision that comes back to bite them in the ass.
In a 2014 interview, Will Smith said, “We don’t do punishment. The way we deal with our kids is they are responsible for their Lives. Our concept is, as young as possible, give them as much control over their lives as possible. So when they do things, you can do anything you want as long as you can explain to me why was that the right thing to do in your life.”
But when it comes to walking the talk, they fall seriously short.
Willow Smith claims that her parents are not as free going as they say they are
But Willow Smith has some other things to say. The 21-year-old disclosed that her parents are not as forgiving as they preach to be. She claimed that her mother would be after her even if she made a slight deviation from her morning schedule.
On an episode of her talk show, Red Table Talk, she said, “When she (Jada Smith) came to wake me up, it would be like ‘You better get up.’ To me she would be like, ‘School School is about to be. You better get up. You need to get dressed’. And I would be in my room like okay.”
So much for not being controlling, Jada Smith.
Jada Smith treated Willow Smith differently because she was a girl
But the story doesn’t end there. She has also claimed that she was treated differently than Jaden Smith. She said that she got into trouble. And more than her elder brother, at that. All because she was a girl.
In the episode, she said:
“There is a difference between how black moms treat their daughters and their sons. When she (Jada Smith) cane to wake me up, it would be like ‘You better get up.’ To me she would be like, ‘School School is about to be. You better get up. You need to get dressed’. And I would be in my room like okay. But then, Jaden is there and she’s like ‘Are you ready?’ and he’d be like ‘maybe one moment’.”
This is news to the people who considered Jada Pinkett Smith to be a feminist. She had openly professed how gender equality is the need of the hour. According to her, society couldn’t survive if it kept on treating boys and girls differently. Not treating your own kids according to your professed beliefs seems quite hypocritical of her.
No wonder why Willow and Jaden Smith call them cruel and manipulative.
