With Chris Hemsworth Hinting Thor Retirement, Only One Avenger from Original 6 Will Reportedly be in Secret Wars
It has been a tough time for Marvel enthusiasts to bid farewell to one of their favorite and original Avengers like Captain America and Iron Man. And now it seems like Chris Hemsworth’s Thor will retire from his iconic character.
After Chris Hemsworth hinted at his retirement from his iconic character Thor in Marvel, it was reported that out of the 6 original Marvel Avengers, only 1 would make it to the much-anticipated and upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars, and that superhero is reported to be Hulk.
Only One Original Avenger is Reported to be in Avengers: Secret Wars
After Iron Man and Captain America’s departure from Avengers movies, fans aren’t ready for Chris Hemsworth aka Thor’s retirement from the superhero world. On top of that it is claimed that Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner aka Hulk will be the only original Avenger in the highly anticipated and one of the biggest upcoming epic Avengers: Secret Wars. A post from CanWeGetSomeToast on X hints at the possibility of only Hulk’s presence in the next movie.
Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner/Hulk is a bit of a different story. Kevin Feige is conscious of how the rights situation with Hulk always kept him as more of a supporting character rather than one of the mains.

The posts explain that Bruce Banner aka Hulk’s situation is comparatively different from that of the other remaining original Avengers in the universe. Due to the complicated agreements with Universal Pictures, Hulk was always portrayed in a supporting role despite being one of the original Avengers which made it quite challenging for Mark Ruffalo to have a standalone movie. However, Marvel now has plans for more Hulk content, especially after the developments in She-Hulk and Captain America: Brave New World.
Chris Hemsworth Clarified Retirement Rumors
Marvel enthusiasts couldn’t accept the rumor that claimed Chris Hemsworth was retiring from his iconic role. The actor himself stated that he had no plans to retire when rumors of him being retired due to health conditions scattered like wildfire.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the actor explained that he took a brief break from working as he was exhausted and desired to spend time with his children whom he shares with his wife Elsa Pataky. The Extraction star said:
“It was interesting, because those two headlines got coupled together, that I was taking time off because of the genetic predisposition to Alzheimer’s.”
Hemsworth revealed that there was a misunderstanding that led to the rumors of his retirement as he just took a break to get some relief. He added:
“It was a positive in that sense, but it got a little over-dramatized like I was potentially retiring because of this thing. Which just isn’t the case.”
While filming for Limitless, Hemsworth discovered that he was at a high risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease and focused on his health to improve. Hence, the actor emphasized that currently, he doesn’t feel it is the right time to retire, instead is using his experience as a catalyst to focus on health prevention.
