Wolverine Co-Creator Breaks Silence on Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine Getting Comic Accurate Look after 23 Years
Hugh Jackman will finally make his MCU debut with Ryan Reynolds’s Deadpool 3. Jackman recently posted a first look at his costume for Deadpool 3. The film will be a debut entry into the MCU for both Reynolds and Jackman. Hugh Jackman shared the first photo of his Wolverine’s new costume alongside Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool on his Instagram story.
What Does Wolverine Co-Creator Have To Say About The Movie Costume?
Wolverine’s co-creator, Roy Thomas, and the widow of Wolverine co-creator Len Wein’s reaction to Wolverine’s comics accurate Deadpool 3 costume is the new talk. After recurring rumors official photos from the production of Deadpool 3 have finally revealed Hugh Jackman wearing a Wolverine costume which is a replica of the costume that the character wore when he debuted in 1974’s Incredible Hulk.
The famous yellow costume with blue stripes was designed by John Romita and it was replaced by John Byrne’s tan and brown costume for more than a decade before the yellow costume was brought back by Jim Lee in 1991. Though this has been Wolverine’s official costume over the years, it was never before shown in the movie adaptations of the character.
The change has been highly loved and applauded by the fans as well as the original creators of the character. Roy Thomas shared his thoughts on the new movie costume on Facebook saying, “It’d be nice seeing something like Romita’s original costume on screen.”
Len Wein’s widow, Christine Valada said, “I only wish that @LenWein, John Romita, Sr., and Herb Trimpe were here to see this. Yellow spandex for the win, @RealHughJackman.” Seeing the classic design reflected on the screen means a lot for the creators, their families, and the fans, as well.
Hugh Jackman To Return As Wolverine In Deadpool 3
A third Deadpool film is already under development and with every passing day it is hard for fans to remain calm due to the constant spoilers. This time around, Ryan Reynolds will be joined by his longtime friend Hugh Jackman, who’s reprising his role as Logan/Wolverine. Jackman’s involvement in Deadpool 3 initially caused confusion among the fans as Wolverine died in James Mangold’s 2017 film Logan. However, it later became clear that Deadpool 3 will be set before his death thus making sense of his reprise.
Reynolds told Collider in late 2022, that he always wanted Hughman to reprise the role. He said that “working with Hugh is a dream come true.” He continued, “Working with Logan and having Logan and Wade together in a movie is beyond any dream I would ever be audacious enough to have.” The Deadpool star expressed similar sentiments during his April interview.
