On April 19, 2024, American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift released her eleventh studio album The Tortured Poets Department. The collection in total has 16 standard songs and the album is of a little more than 65 minutes. Within hours, she released an extended version of the album with fifteen more songs, making it a double album release.

The 14-time Grammy Award winner mentioned the name of Charlie Puth in the lyrics of the song The Tortured Poets Department. She sings:

You smokеd, then ate seven bars of chocolate / We declared Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist

Charlie Puth shared his genuine reaction to knowing that Swift actually gave him a shoutout. His reaction speaks a lot about how overwhelmed he was about it. In an interview with Rolling Stone, he said:

My first thought was like, ‘Wow. She said my name.’ She kind of said it like P-O-O-T-H. And I just cried, dude.

It will really be a huge deal if the We Don’t Talk Anymore singer and Taylor Swift decide to collaborate with each other. Fans are hoping this artistic fantasy will take a realistic form someday soon.

After Swift mentioned Puth in her new album The Tortured Poets Department, the 32-year-old musician created his most difficult masterpiece. He has revealed that Swift name-dropping his name in her lyrics has given him a new level of courage. The result is a new song that has just been released by Puth.

Hero is a new song recorded and released by Puth on May 24, 2024. The Light Switch singer has revealed in an Instagram post that this song is now the hardest one that he has worked on and this has been possible because of Swift.

I’ve never put out a song like this before – it’s very different for me, but I want to thank Taylor Swift for letting me know musically that I just couldn’t keep this on my hard drive any longer.

Puth revealed that the new song is about when one sees a loved one hurting themselves, but cannot do anything to save them. He also stated that his upcoming album will be in the same vein as this song.

The Tortured Poets Department and Hero are available for streaming on Spotify and Apple Music.
