We’re so used to seeing Chris Pratt as an action hero, that it’s almost difficult to remember that he first became well-known as a chubby goofball. Prior to playing a world-saving superhero in Guardians of the Galaxy and a Velociraptor expert in Jurassic World, Pratt can never be forgotten for his role as Andy Dwyer on the NBC sitcom, Parks and Recreation.

Moreover, he wasn’t always known for the lean body that he owns now.

Chris Pratt has come a long way since he first appeared on the hit TV show, Parks and Recreation. After that, the 43-year-old actor had then been part of many popular movies like The Tomorrow War and Passengers

But the interesting fact is that he actually weighed close to 300 pounds when he participated in his audition to play Peter Quill in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. That’s quite a number!

Chris Pratt ‌‌Lost 60 Pounds In 6 Months For Guardians Of The Galaxy

Chris Pratt‘s biggest break occurred in 2014 when he posted a selfie he had taken while practicing for Zero Dark Thirty on Instagram.

During his interview with Best Fit, the actor stated, “My older brother Cully convinced me to do it, and I’d lost 70 pounds. It was embarrassing but without it, who knows.”

This Pratt’s selfie caught Marvel’s attention, and they decided the actor could become a fantastic Guardians of the Galaxy lead. He had been called into Marvel headquarters on short notice after several unsuccessful screen tests.

But by this time, the Moneyball actor had put on a lot of weight in order to play the role in his 2013 comedy-drama, Delivery Man.

“They held up the selfie from Zero Dark Thirty and said, ‘You’re too fat for Star-Lord. How long will it take you to look like this?’ They gave me five-and-a-half months,” he told Best Fit.

Pratt was fortunate that Marvel had put him in touch with Duffy Gaver and Phil Goglia, two fitness professionals. Goglia had changed the actor’s diet, upping it to 4,000 calories per day and adding a gallon of water for every pound he weighed. According to Pratt, “I was peeing all day long, every day and that part was a nightmare.”
