“You know, I hear kind of like through the grapevine, that they’re gonna bring him back. And there’s the What If…? series and that’s a different kind of Thanos and all that. But I don’t know in the Marvel world whether they’re going to bring him back, but I didn’t know that he was the most killed-off Marvel villain … You learn something new every day.”

At the time of writing this article, he had died a total of seven times in the MCU. In Infinity War, Thanos faces his death when, before the time jump, Thor stabs him in the heart with the Stormbreaker. Five years later, the Avengers face a 2014 version of him in Avengers: Endgame that has used time travel to get the Infinity Stones in the present. He also faced his death four times in What If…? season 1 episode 5, where he turns into a zombie; season 1 episode 8, where Ultron slices Thanos in half using the mind stone; season 2 episode 1, where Ronan the Accuser killed Thanos with the Kree Universal Weapon to become the most feared villain in the universe; and season 2 episode 9, where a Killmonger variant wearing all six infinity stones snaps him out of existence.
