Shows like I Love Lucy from the 1950s, The Carol Burnett Show from the 1960s, and All in the Family from the 1970s will be represented, besides Game of Thrones. The show Cheers will represent the 80s and Martin will represent the 90s, with Sopranos exhibiting the early 2000s. Shows like Grey’s Anatomy and American Horror Stories, which are still on air and are having a legendary run, will also get a seat at the table. Another producer of the Emmys, Jesse Collins, said,

“We just tried to pick ones that we felt like we could successfully pay tribute to. We have a pretty vast array of comedies and procedural dramas and talk shows, just trying to touch all the different areas. We have a great ‘Game of Thrones’ moment.”

Game of Thrones Creators Finally Open Up About The Season 8 Backlash

Game of Thrones season 8 finale The Iron Throne can easily take the throne for the most controversial episode in the history of television, eclipsing all others. The tsunami of negative reactions made David Benioff and D B Weiss reportedly cancel their appearances at 2019’s San Diego Comic-Con. To add insult to injury, over a million people signed a petition for the ending to be written by more “competent writers.” People were even more pissed because the creators apparently completely ignored and stopped taking any input from George R R Martin.

Recently, while speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Benioff opened up about the mental struggle he had to go through post-backlash.

“You always hope everyone’s going to love anything you do and it would’ve been great if 100 percent of people loved it, but they didn’t. You can get so bogged down in public opinion that you spend your whole life googling things and trying to find people who felt one way or the other way.”

Weiss added to it and said,

“Even super positive feedback makes you feel weird and teeth-grindy and on edge. There’s a drug quality to the feedback, and as soon as we went cold turkey — the last time I googled myself was in 2013 — the ambient stress level in our lives dropped by about 50 percent overnight.”

However, Weiss did say that his encounters with fans in real life after the season finale aired were more or less respectable and positive. According to him, there is an indescribable transition that happens in conversations in real life versus online. He found people more vicious and furious in online spaces than in real life.

All Game of Thrones episodes are available to watch on Max.
