The deleted footage of Chris Hemsworth‘s cameo in Loki has finally been released. Season one, episode five of the Hiddleston-led series first introduced audiences to The Void, a place at the end of time filled with Loki variants, Marvel Easter eggs, and Throg, an amphibious variant of Hemsworth’s Thor.
Thorg, who appeared in Loki Season 1 without speaking, had a larger role in the series but was axed from the final cut. The deleted scene features Throg interrupting the God of Mischief’s coronation. The rough cut of the deleted scene now available online, shows a fight between Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and Thorg.
A person shared the scene on X in which Throg is seen yelling, “You turned me into a frog!” before pointing a miniature Mjolnir at Loki in front of an Asgardian crowd.
The action comes to a close with a freeze-frame showing Throg gloating as Loki is struck by lightning, followed by a zoom-out that reveals the TVA is replaying this exact moment.
Director Kate Herron confirmed that Chris Hemsworth voiced the Thor Variant. According to The Direct, Herron said,
“Throg, obviously, getting him in [was great]. And we recorded Chris Hemsworth for that, by the way. We recorded him for that, that’s a new recording. That’s a whole new recording, not recycled, he recorded that!”
However, the director decided against using the interaction since it didn’t fully fit with the purpose of the episode. With Loki Season 2 set to debut in October, the question is whether Throg will return.
