After Her Marilyn Monroe Dress Shenanigans Last Year, Kim Kardashian Reportedly ‘Removed’ from Met Gala 2023 Guest List
The Kardashians’ attendance at the yearly fashion show has been guaranteed for the past few years. Actually, all of them, including Kim Kardashian show up each year. However, recent rumors claim that the Kardashians won’t be invited to this year’s Met Gala. And a closer look at the star’s relationship with fashion may help to clarify why.
According to Page Six, the American first reality family won’t be attending the 2023 event. The outlet was informed by a source that “no Kardashians” would be invited. An opposing source, who claimed that was “not true,” refuted this.
For the unheard, when Kim Kardashian was expecting her first child with her ex-husband Kanye West in 2013, she made her first appearance at the Met Gala.
Since then, she has established herself as a dependable attendee, donning clothes by Lanvin, Givenchy, Roberto Cavalli, Vivienne Westwood, Balmain, and Versace.
The coronavirus pandemic forced the cancellation of the 2020 Met Gala, but she made her comeback in 2021 wearing an all-black Balenciaga bodysuit and a mask that covered her face.
Kardashians Reportedly ‘Uninvited’ to the 2023 Met Gala
Last year, Kim Kardashian wore the exact same outfit that Marilyn Monroe did when she famously sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to President John F. Kennedy at the event. Preservationists who were worried about it being harmed were furious with her action.
And now, according to Page Six, Vogue Editor-in-Chief, Anna Wintour is “cracking down” on who will be invited. As per reports, America’s first reality family’ won’t be on the guest list for 2023. No Kardashians will be invited, according to a source who spoke with the publication. Another source, however, disputed this and asserted that it was “not true.”
In any case, there has always been a lot of rumor that the Kardashians, and particularly Khloé K, have been “banned” from the Met Gala at various points. Though, Khloé K herself dispelled this rumor on Twitter:
Absolutely NOT True

In 2013, Kim K reportedly attended the Met Gala for the first time, which she found to be quite stressful. According to reports, Wintour, who manages the invitation list for the yearly event, has decided she doesn’t want any of the Kardashian-Jenners this time.
Anna Wintour’s Goal Is To Make The Met Gala More Refined And Influence-Free
The alleged action follows criticism that the event has received in recent years for inviting influencers and lesser-known celebrities. Even though the Kardashians have expanded their influence beyond their status as reality-TV stars to become powerhouses in the fashion and beauty industries, Anna Wintour herself hasn’t always been eager to include them in the exclusive club.
In recent years, Wintour has given the Kardashians a number of underhanded compliments, indicating that she is not the biggest fan of the internet-famous family. In a 2014 interview, Wintour defended her decision to feature Kim Kardashian on the Vogue cover by saying, “I see the role of Vogue as to reflect what’s going on in the culture.”
She allegedly made fun of Kim K by saying that she wasn’t “tasteful,” adding, “I think if we just remain deeply tasteful and just put deeply tasteful people on the cover, it would be a rather boring magazine.”
The Costume Institute Gala, also referred to as the Met Gala, is an annual benefit gala that takes place in New York City to raise money for the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It was first held in 1948.
The theme of this year’s Met Gala will be ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty’ in memory of the late fashion icon, who tragically died in February 2019.
