Alec Baldwin’s Wife Slams Amy Schumer for ‘Cruel’ and Insensitive Joke on Husband’s Manslaughter Accident
Amy Schumer is known for her unique way of communicating her opinions through comedy. In her latest stand-up special, Emergency Contact on Netflix, she does the same. The comedienne-actor isn’t hesitant to subtly parody the mystery of Alec Baldwin and his infamous accident from the Rust movie set either.
Alec Baldwin is recognized for his exceptional performances in the entertainment industry. He faced challenges during the filming of Rust, leading to his facing charges of manslaughter due to a distressing on-set incident. Since then, Baldwin has been in the attention of the media. Schumer, during her new show, brought up the 65-year-old’s filming incident and made fun of his relationship with his wife. Hilaria Baldwin, in a recent interview, fired back at the comedian for her comments about Baldwin.
Alec Baldwin’s wife hits back at Amy Schumer after Emergency Contact comments
Alec Baldwin made headlines after the shooting incident while filming Rust. He and his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, are getting past that accident after the charges against the actor were dropped. But it’s too early for people to forget about the incident. Amy Schumer, known for her comedy, brought up Baldwin’s shooting tragedy and made a joke of it.
Schumer, on her stand-up special, Emergency Contact, streaming on Netflix, targeted the 65-year-old and his wife while joking about their marriage. She said,
“They have a von Trapp amount of children, and they named them all — I’m not sure, but very Spanish names like Jamón, Croqueta, and Flamenco — and all of this would be fine and beautiful, except that ‘Hilaria from España’ is actually Hillary from Boston.”
The 42-year-old even commented on Hilaria Baldwin’s fake Spanish accent and her faking of being from Spain. By calling the former yoga instructor a sociopath, Schumer made fun of the Beetlejuice actor’s set incident.
She added,
“So, I’m not trying to bully a sociopath. I have a point, OK? My point is that all evidence points to this woman, since she met her husband, has straight up pretended to be from Spain. And her husband shot someone.”
The 39-year-old, during an interview with Romper fired back at the comedian for targeting her husband and family, calling it cruel.
Alec Baldwin’s wife said, “It is a ridiculous thing to be cruel to another person.”
The former yoga instructor defended her husband and also replied to the comments about them expanding their family after having seven children.
Alec Baldwin Faced Manslaughter Chargers After Rust Accident
Alec Baldwin and weapons specialist Hannah Gutierrez-Reed were charged with involuntary manslaughter after the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on a New Mexico film set. Baldwin mistakenly shot a live cartridge from a pretend gun in October 2021 while shooting Rust and killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza.
Souza’s injuries were not the subject of any prosecution, but Baldwin and Reed were accused of two counts of involuntary manslaughter.
However, the charges against both were dropped in February. The comedian has pleaded not guilty to the accusations and has maintained his innocence throughout the experience. Rust will soon start shooting again.
