All Mutants Rumored & Confirmed to Appear in MCU Phase 4 Projects
Disney acquired the assets of 20th Century Fox last year, and now they’re starting to develop new projects based on Fox’s properties. It’s not like Disney made such a huge investment on Fox’s properties so that Marvel can just sit on them for the next five years. We might get X-Men or Fantastic Four movies after four or five years, but their characters will be set up, and even be used from the beginning of MCU Phase 4 itself.
For now, let’s just focus on mutants as Marvel has already set them up. In the recently released MCU tie-in book, The Wakanda Files: A Technological Exploration of the Avengers and Beyond, Marvel hinted at the fact that Wanda and Pietro had the X-Genes. So, it is more or less confirmed that they are mutants. And now, the MCU is going to be crawling with mutants. Here’s every mutant that is rumored and confirmed to appear in Phase 4:
Confirmed –
Scarlet Witch, Wiccan and Speed (WandaVision)
The first MCU series of Disney+ is going to establish Wanda as a mutant, and the true Scarlet Witch of the comics. It has also been confirmed that besides Wanda, the series will bring her sons, Billy and Tommy (Wiccan and Speed) into the mix. So, three mutants have already been confirmed for the first Phase 4 project itself. But there’s a chance that Wiccan and Speed might only be half mutants. Vision is obviously not their father. So, let’s wait and see whether Mephisto turns out to be their daddy!
Rumored –
Quicksilver (WandaVision)
Pietro’s return in WandaVision is more or less confirmed. An audition tape of the series had mentions of Quicksilver. And recently, the description of a two-pack Funko Pop included Vision and Quicksilver. Wanda bringing Vision back, but leaving her own brother dead just won’t make sense. So, there’s no doubt in the fact that Pietro will return in WandaVision. It’s just that we don’t have an official confirmation for him, so we’ve put him in the rumored list.
But the real question is, will we see Magneto in WandaVision? Eric Lehnsherr is the father of Wanda and Pietro in the comics. This lineage could still come true in the MCU. But, the chances of Magneto’s appearance in WandaVision are very less. Although, the series could still set up his arrival if he is supposed to be the father of the Maximoff twins.
Omega Red (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier)
Quite a few rumors and a certain plot leak have suggested that the Russian mutant, Omega Red will appear in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The plot leak which we’re talking about mentioned that Omega Red is to appear alongside Captain America: The Winter Soldier’s Batroc the Leaper. In the recent set leaks, we saw Desmond Chiam along with Georges St‑Pierre (Georges Batroc). Since Chiam’s character is shrouded with mystery, it is plausible that he’d be playing a different version of Omega Red in the series.
Ursa Major (Black Widow)
Earlier this year, actor Oliver Richters revealed the aforementioned image in an Instagram post. He confirmed that he will be starring in Black Widow. And, he also wrote that his character will be another inmate along with Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian in the Gulag prison. Right after his reveal, he deleted the post. That’s because people had figured out that his character is none other than the Russian Bear Mutant, Ursa Major. So, there’s a massive chance that we’d see a mutant in Black Widow as well.
Omega Red, T-Ray, Spiral, Whiz Kid (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings)
Recent plot leaks and rumors have mentioned that Omega Red will follow his story from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier to the Shang-Chi movie. Apparently, he is supposed to appear in a Mortal Kombat-like tournament that will have the 10 rings as its esteemed reward. And along with him, other mutants like T-Rat, Spiral, and Wiz Kid are also said to be a part of the tournament.
Deadpool (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness)
MCU’s Deadpool 3 was officially put into development very recently. His R-Rated movie might happen as soon as 2023. But we still don’t know how he will make his way into the MCU. Rumors in the past have suggested that it could happen through Doctor Strange 2. And now, it would be safe to presume that those rumors might just come true. Deadpool’s cameo in Doctor Strange 2 would make sense as it could directly set up Deadpool 3. So, Deadpool might be the second mutant appearing in Doctor Strange 2, after Scarlet Witch.
Which other Mutants could show up in Phase 4? Tell us in the comments.
