Amber Heard Reveals She Hit Johnny Depp in Self-Defense
Aquaman star, who is currently in news for all the wrong reasons, Amber Heard has finally admitted to hitting ex-husband Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean) star on not one, but multiple occasions, however, claiming that every strike made by her was in self-defense and that Heard never assaulted him.
Here’s what Amber Heard said:
“There are many times I had to use my body to defend myself, and that included slapping wherever I could,” Heard said during her fourth day on the stand at Depp’s ongoing defamation trial against the actor. “If it meant I could get away, absolutely, or the difference between a sore face and a broken nose… I tried to defend myself when I could, but it was after years of not defending myself.” As per Rolling Stone, when she was questioned under cross-examination regarding her earlier domestic violence allegation back in 2009 by Camille Vasquez (Depp’s lawyer), the actor replied, “I’ve never assaulted Mr. Depp or anyone else that I’ve been romantically linked to, ever.”
Heard had testified in the ongoing trial that Johnny Depp had physically abused her on various occasions. “I will never forget it,” she said, recounting the first time she alleges Depp hit her. “It changed my life.” Heard recalled the two were talking about Depp’s “Wino” tattoo — a modified version of a tattoo Depp originally got while dating ex-girlfriend Winona Ryder. Heard said she initially couldn’t read what it said and laughed when he told her. “I just laughed, because I thought he was joking. And he slapped me across the face,” Heard said. “And I laughed. I laughed because I didn’t know what else to do. I thought, ‘This must be a joke.'”
“Johnny once tried to kill me,” Heard revealed during the trial
To the surprise of many, Amber Heard also revealed during the trial that Depp had tried to murder her. After the audio recordings played by Vasquez of arguments between the duo and read-aloud those love notes written by Amber Heard to Johnny Depp after the latter had allegedly tried to abuse her, the attorney asked Heard, “You weren’t scared of him at all, were you?” The Aquaman actress replied responded, “This is a man who tried to kill me. Of course, it’s scary. He’s also my husband.”
Johnny Depp is suing Amber Heard for $50 million in defamation for a Washington Post op-ed in 2018 which allegedly called Depp a wife-beater. As per Johnny Depp, this op-ed has ruined his career, costing him various movie roles, including a payday of $22.5 million for the next installment of Pirates of the Caribbean film.
