The DC movies have a ritual of going through test screenings before the actual movie comes out. They have received some successful results from its test screening for movies like Blue Beetle and The Flash. The new DC addition, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is to hit the theaters this December. The film recently had multiple test screenings and the results have worried the fans.

Jason Momoa starred opposite Amber Heard in the sequel. All the drama surrounding Heard due to her infamous defamation trial could have a major effect on the film. With The Flash gaining positive reviews, James Wan’s new sequel had the opposite reaction. The test screening results have put pressure on Wan.

DC movies have a habit of getting mixed reviews at their test screening. Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam performed poorly, while Ezra Miller’s The Flash gave an extraordinary performance. Amber Heard’s Aquaman 2 also had its test screening recently, and the results were not satisfying.

An insider, ViewerAnon was the first to comment on the sequel, calling it boring. He said,

“I’ll be honest, we’re half a dozen test screenings in and it’s not looking great. I’ve consistently heard over the last half year or so that it’s boring, not as good as the first, and potentially one of the worst DCEU movies.”

While Big Screen Leaks backed ViewerAnon, saying the film has not been good. He commented,

“It brings me no joy to back him up and tell you that test screenings for this film have not been good. Really hoping Wan fixes this movie before December.”

The BSL also stated something unexpected happened during the test screening that has never happened, indicating the poor performance of Aquaman 2. Insider CanWeGetSomeToast confirmed it being people walking out between the movie.

Amber Heard, who reprises her role of Princess Mera in the sequel, has got only 20 minutes of screen time after her defamation controversy. With the film failing its test screening, her hopes for continuing in Hollywood seem to be on edge. An insider cleared that Heard has nothing to do with the sequel’s poor test screening performance though.

The recent screening review of Aquaman 2 has disheartened the cast and crew. James Wan is in serious need to work on its post-production if they are going to consider the test screening result. The failure of the film will also mean Jason Momoa’s time as the Atlantean King will come to an end, and he will move on to some other project.

The people walking out of the test screening will affect the perception of fans who are eagerly waiting for the sequel. Aquaman 2 is reported to have the most expensive budget costing Warner Bros. a major deal.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom comes out in the theater on December 25, 2023.
