During an interview with the media outlet Inverse, Anthony Mackie revealed his dream role. The actor had wanted to play the Black Panther way ahead of his first MCU association as Falcon in 2014 released Captain America: The Winter Soldier. During the interview, he spoke about how he tried his best to get the role and even went on to write letters to the billion-dollar production house. The Hurt Locker star said-
“I had been contacting Marvel a lot about Black Panther. I had written them letters. I was trying to find a way to make them make Black Panther. And I wanted to be Black Panther because growing up I f–ing loved Black Panther.”
Anthony Mackie even got a call from the directors Joe and Anthony Russo for a meeting. He had assumed that meeting was for the Black Panther role, but to his surprise, he wasn’t even informed about the Falcon’s role. Anthony Mackie recalled-
“I’ll never forget, Joe Russo said, ‘Listen, so we’re doing this movie. We want you to be in it. We can’t say what character you’re playing or who else is going to be in it. Would you do it? And that was it. I was like, ‘You know what, I like y’all dudes. I’ll do it. I’ll go on this ride with you.’ “
