Before Absolutely Decimating Johnny Depp, Aquaman 2 Star Amber Heard Called Divorce Rumors “Horrible misrepresentation of our lives”
The never-ending drama of Amber Heard and Johnny Depp’s divorce and defamation saga is still making headlines even after a year of its settlement. Recently, the Charlie And The Chocolate Factory actor was sanctioned the settlement amount paid by his ex-wife Amber Heard. According to the 59-year-old actor, he would be splitting the amount equally amongst five of his favorite charities.
After the messy defamation trial, both actors were out of the media limelight for a long time. The Pirates Of The Caribbean actor made his classic comeback with Jeane Du Barry, in which he was seen portraying the beau of the titular character. The movie was screened at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival and even got a standing ovation. Amber Heard is making a comeback with In The Fire, which recently premiered at the Taormina Film Festival.
Amber Heard Had Labeled The Divorce Rumors As Horrible Misrepresentation
During the interview for the cover story of the reputed media outlet Marie Claire in 2015, The Rum Diary actor was promoting her movie Magic Mike XXL starring Channing Tatum. The rumors of her tumultuous relationship were already doing the rounds of the tinsel town and the impending separation was on the horizon. While talking about the divorce rumors, Amber Heard said-
“I try not to react to the horrible misrepresentation of our lives, but it is strange, and hard.” She says she would love to have children, and that being a stepmother to Depp’s—16-year-old Lily-Rose and 13-year-old Jack—is “an honor and the greatest, most surprising gift I have ever received in my life … I feel new flavors that I didn’t know existed. New colors that I didn’t know existed have been added to my life. I’m so happy.”
Before getting married to Johnny Depp, Amber Heard was in a relationship with the photographer Tasya van Ree. The actor came out as bisexual publicly in 2010. She has always been very vocal about gay rights and has supported the community openly. She even mentioned-
“So much needs to change. She was proud that gay marriage was deemed a federal issue. No matter what people want to label me as I still fight for equality, and I think popular opinion will catch up. I think it already has, actually. I think our generation sees themselves as part of a larger global community, and therefore, it’s harder to enact basic tribalistic prejudices based on ignorance and hate.”
After her separation from Johnny Depp, the actor has maintained a low-key social presence. She is currently staying in Spain with her little daughter Oonagh Paige and her mother.
Amber Heard’s Comeback Movie Co-Star Is All Praises For Her
The Never Back Down star Amber Heard is making a comeback after her messy defamation trial. Recently the actor was present on the blue carpet at the Taormina Film Festival during the premiere of her comeback movie In the Fire. Her co-star Luca Calvani was also present at the venue along with the director of the movie.
Director Conor Allyn was all praises for Amber Heard’s resilience during her much-publicized defamation trial. While speaking to the media outlet Deadline he said-
“I’m so happy that Amber went through something so awful and it didn’t change her as a person. She’s still the shining light that we explained earlier and to go through something that terrible and be able to come out the other side and be whole, well I can’t imagine it.”
Actor Lica Calvani also added-
“Anyone that suffers that sort of ordeal and is able to overcome it with grace, no matter what side you’re on, no matter what you believe or which social media [outlet] you plug into or whatever your hashtags are, you have to give credit for the incredible journey this woman has been through and she can teach us all a couple of things as far as resilience and courage.”
Post the defamation trial settlement, the Zombieland actor Amber Heard is living in Spain with her daughter Oonagh Paige. She has been spending her life away from the media spotlight trying to adapt to the Spanish culture, the actor is busy learning the Spanish cuisine and language.
