Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck gave Hollywood and the world a memorable true-love moment when they reunited after almost two decades apart and tied the knot in numerous beautiful ceremonies. They were supposed to go the distance back in 2003 but called it off just 4 days before the wedding. They went on to get married to other people, have kids, and raise a family but as time would have it, they found their way back to each other.

The months leading up to their wedding looked like something straight out of a romance classic. However, soon after getting married, reality started setting in as the honeymoon phase passed. Contentions regarding busy work schedules started becoming a hurdle and the Gone Girl star’s smoking habit was becoming a serious trouble as well. It was even reported that the Selena star got so frustrated with her husband’s chain-smoking that she trashed his motorcycle collection out of spite. And a certain expert has claimed that the coping process is bound to be hard on Mrs. Affleck.

A smoking cessation expert praised Jennifer Lopez for putting up with Ben Affleck

A celebrity smoking cessation expert, Max Kirsten is all praises for Jennifer Lopez. The award-winning hypnotherapist has claimed that it is not easy to make a relationship work with someone with a chronic smoking habit and thus putting up with Ben Affleck is quite a task for his wife and family.

In conversation with The Sun, Kirsten said,

“It must be challenging because Ben and J-Lo have this extraordinary love story where they’ve got back together, married and merged their two families.”

He went on to commend how the Hustlers star was making it work with the Argo star.

“It’s remarkable that despite Ben’s chronic and entrenched smoking habit, that they’re somehow making this work. It’s really tough if one person in a relationship is putting up with someone who’s still smoking and loves them very dearly.”

Kirsten then went on to discuss the approach that JLo must take to tackle Affleck’s condition.

According to Kirsten, nagging the Academy Award winner would prove to be counter-productive.

“Deep down, J-Lo will be hoping that Ben’s going to quit smoking very soon, but she won’t be putting pressure on him. A lot of smokers don’t respond well to pressure and so it’s key that the partner is gently encouraging rather than negatively telling them off.”

Kirsten then went on to further describe the attitude that chronic nicotine addicts usually possess, and how their loved ones are supposed to handle it.

“Despite how she feels, J-Lo wouldn’t be putting pressure on Ben because smokers can get very defensive and they don’t like it. Obviously Ben’s probably going to have ashtray breath even after cleaning his teeth. It’ll be such a shame for Ben and J-Lo if he doesn’t quit smoking.”

The Justice League star is notorious for his intense smoking habit and has often been spotted in public either prancing about with a cigarette in his mouth or calming his nerves with the same during long shooting hours. He had even claimed to quit smoking back in 2005 when his first daughter, Violet was about to be born. But the father of three failed to follow through on his promise.
