Ben Affleck has had quite a career over almost three decades. He has won two Academy Awards, starred in several hits, and even starred as the iconic Batman. But there is still one project from the past that continues to haunt him. It was his role as basketball player #10 in the 1992 film Buffy the Vampire Slayer. With his latest directorial venture, Air, a sports drama based on real-life events involving basketball legend, Michael Jordan, out in the theatres, the time seems rife for a throwback to Affleck’s first basketball film.

Ben Affleck recalls his worst acting experience

Back in 2020, Ben Affleck starred in Gavin O’Connor’s The Way Back, where he portrayed a basketball coach. During the promotion of the film, he spoke to SiriusXM and recalled Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He recalled,

Apparently, I’m so bad in that movie. I had one line. It was ‘Take it,’ I think.

The 50-year-old only appeared for a limited time in the high-school set film during a scene where some members of the basketball team transform into werewolves. One such teammate asks for the ball from the Gone Girl star and then he delivers his one and only line in the film with a scared expression. While this makes for a funny spectacle, this is not the most embarrassing part for the Deep Water actor. He shared the funniest part during the interview. He said,

I went to the movie and I was like, ‘That is not my voice. That is not me.’ Apparently [director Fran Rubel Kuzui] hated my performance so much that she looped the entire performance, which was one line. So, yes, I am dubbed in English!

Imagine hating an extra’s performance so much that you decide to get even two words dubbed for the sake of it.

Ben Affleck and a hilarious anecdote

The Argo star must thank his stars that the 1992 film did not turn out to be a deciding factor in his career, but only remained a hilarious memory. The very same year, he ended up getting his first breakthrough in School Ties co-starring Brendan Fraser, Chris O’Donnell, and his close friend Matt Damon. Next year came the iconic Dazed and Confused, and eventually all of it became history.
