The interestingly weird Black Mirror series is coming back this June 15 with its sixth season on Netflix. All the technology-related concepts used in the stories somehow end up becoming a nuisance in the characters’ lives. AI or Artificial Intelligence is one concept that inevitably pops up when it comes to disruptive technologies.

And in real life these days it and been taking over a lot of stuff which includes AI-generated scripts. Taking the opportunity to test the recent AI writing software called ChatGPT, the show’s director Charlie Brooker did not get a satisfying result.

However, the experience of trying to make the software write one of his Black Mirror episodes ended up teaching him something else.

It seems that despite the talks of AI taking over the human workforce, there is still a long way to go in terms of creativity. Netflix’s show Black Mirror is known for including various disruptive technological concepts in its storylines. Whether it be AI, online surveillance, etc, in general, it shows how technology can end up in destruction if used for bad purposes.

Taking that into account, the show’s director Charlie Brooker in an interview with Empire for the July issue opened up about his experience with the recent boom in AI technology.

While trying out the AI writing software ChatGPT for scripting an episode for Black Mirror, he received a result that showed a lack of creativity in the AI system. According to him, the software had only mushed together all the synopses of the existing episodes to give a product that was,

“at first glance, reads plausibly, but on second glance, is sh-t”

However, Brooker that the experience with the AI did teach him what he should not be doing in the future. And that is why the upcoming season will see the story set in the 60s which might be refreshing to watch from the usual storyline.

Finally, the fans of the Netflix show Black Mirror is going to have the sixth season of the show on Netflix. In the upcoming July issue of Empire magazine interview, Charlie Brooker opens up about the upcoming season of the show. The first episode called  Beyond the Sea will start with the storyline of the latest season which is set in an alternate 60s.

It stars actors like Aaron Paul etc. According to Brooker, the plot had been his idea and also the idea to base the story on the 60s. Black Mirror Season 6 was released on Netflix on 15 June.
