Tom Cruise has a habit of astonishing fans with his movies, especially with the action-packed scenes. The actor is highly praised for performing flawless stunts in his recent Mission: Impossible 7. But little did fans know that Tom Cruise almost died while filming a scene.
The Golden Globe Award winner was on the edge of dying while filming a scene with co-star Emily Blunt. The Jungle Cruise actress not only put her own life in danger but that of the A-list star. And despite expressing resentment, Tom Cruise dismissed it casually.
Tom Cruise Was Unshaken After Emily Blunt Almost Took His Life
Emily Blunt and Tom Cruise are lauded actors in Hollywood who have collaborated with one of the world’s finest directors. Both the stars have worked together in the movie Edge of Tomorrow which nearly killed them. While shooting a car chase scene for the movie, Blunt was driving a minivan with Cruise in the passenger seat. The scene was supposed to be fast-paced, so the Oppenheimer star accelerated rapidly causing the vehicle to crash into a tree. In an interview with the Conan O’Brien TBS show, Blunt recounted the dreadful incident and said:
“I tear down this part and Tom’s being very quiet behind me. I hear him under his breath as I approach the right-hand turn, going ‘Brake, brake, brake. Brake. Brake, brake, brake… Oh God. Brake, brake, brake. Brake it hard! Brake hard! I left it too late, and so drove us into a tree … I almost killed Tom Cruise.”
Blunt recalled that The Mumy star was sitting behind her and repeatedly urged her to brake as they reached a right-hand turn, but unfortunately Emily Blunt reacted too late, causing them to smash up into a tree. In another interview with Vulture, Blunt said:
“He was actually laughing. And I told him, I said, “I thought you were being so annoying when you told me to say brake, and I apologize.”
Despite the potentially dangerous occurrence, the Top Gun star’s response was to laugh. Maybe because Tom Cruise is a pro at tackling stunts and performing them flawlessly. However, Emily Blunt after the incident apologized to the actor who took this scene in stride.
