The actor had faced several ups and downs before earning his keep in Hollywood however the prominent projects he was engaged in happened all because of advice given by his fellow WWE Legend Steve Austin.
Steve Austin Gave Important Advise to Dave Bautista
Steve Austin better known by his ring name, Stone Cold is regarded as one of the GOAT wrestlers in the sports industry. Given that his sports fame has not followed him in the entertainment industry, Dave Bautista had to go through a rough period. The actor seems to abide by a piece of advice he received from Austin when he was about to enter the entertainment industry.
The actor opened up about the struggles he went through when he lost everything in wrestling, In a recent interview with GQ, the actor shared,
“Before I left WWE, Stone Cold Steve Austin pulled me aside and said, ‘You’re going to get offers for horrible scripts. The money will be tempting. Don’t get caught in that trap.'”
Bautista acted on the former’s advice and decided to be “choosy” rather than doing small projects. It helped him in the long run with the actor gaining much experience from the movies.
No Comparison to The Rock!
Back in 2019, Dave Bautista was quite blunt in stating his views of not being compared with other wrestlers turned superstars that are one of the leading actors in the Hollywood industry. While many tried to switch from sports to acting, only a few gained much acclaim in the entertainment industry including John Cena and Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson.
In an interview with the Tampa Bay Times, he shared his views on being compared to successful actors stating,
“Do not compare me to The Rock or John Cena. Everyone does it. Those guys are wrestlers who became movie stars. I’m … something else. I was a wrestler. Now, I’m an actor.”
Throwing shade at The Rock, he stated,
“Rock was, in a way, a movie star before he was even a movie star,” he added. “There is something about him that’s really special. I’d never take that away from him.” He stated, “Would I consider him a great actor? F**k no.”
The actor has successfully turned Austin’s advice to heart and made his place in the industry. He surely has proven himself by portraying different roles not just the MCU one which shows how he strived hard to achieve what he has today.
