Karan Soni will be reprising his role as Dopinder for the third time in the upcoming film Deadpool 3. He will be starring alongside Ryan Reynolds, who plays the titular character Deadpool. Karan Soni made his debut as Spider-Man India, also known as Pavitr Prabhakar, in Sony’s recently released movie Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. This marks Soni’s second role in the Marvel universe, with his first being Dopinder in the Deadpool franchise.

With Karan Soni now embodying two beloved characters within the vast Marvel multiverse, fans have started speculating that Ryan Reynolds, his co-star in the Deadpool films, might cleverly include subtle nods or references to Soni’s dual role. As the Marvel universe continues to expand, these Easter eggs could add an extra layer of excitement and connection for attentive viewers.

Up until now, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has primarily produced PG-13 movies, while the Deadpool franchise has garnered an R-rating due to its explicit language, violence, and s-xual content. Given that Ryan Reynolds‘s Deadpool 3 movie will take place within Disney’s relatively family-friendly MCU, it raises curiosity about whether the film’s tone will deviate from the gritty and mature style established in the R-rated 20th Century Fox films. Fans might be intrigued to see how this transition impacts the overall feel of the movie.

As indicated in the report, Karan Soni initially affirmed that Deadpool 3 would maintain its characteristic “hard R” rating. He emphasized his involvement in the project, stating, “I have begun working on that one, so I can say that it is the same as the other two. It’s like hard R. There’s a lot of that stuff. So it does not feel different.” Soni’s statement reassured fans that the third installment would maintain the irreverent and adult-oriented tone that had defined the previous Deadpool films.

However, Soni also acknowledged a significant difference in his experience this time around. He noted that, unlike the previous movies, he had not yet received the complete script for Deadpool 3. He highlighted the contrasting nature of the MCU compared to the previous Fox collaboration, expressing, “The only thing that, for me, is different is that I have not gotten the script this time. The other two, we did get it, it’s a big difference, at least for me, the MCU part of it vs. the Fox/Marvel part of it. They’re so strict. So I’ve only seen glimpses of what I’m in.”

During an interview with The Movie Dweeb about his project Miracle Workers: End Times, Soni had the opportunity to respond to an amusing suggestion regarding Deadpool referencing his character Pavitra Prabhakar from Across the Spider-Verse in Deadpool 3. Soni shared, “I do know that Ryan and Shawn went to see the movie in the theater, in London, where they are working right now. So, they are aware of it, but I will not dare tell Mr. Ryan Reynolds what to do. I am a smart boy, and I know that he is a smarter boy, and whatever he does will be very good.”

Soni’s comment showcases his awareness of Reynolds and the creative team’s involvement with Across the Spider-Verse, but he also acknowledges that Reynolds holds the creative reins and trusts in his expertise to make the right decisions for the film. Deadpool 3 is set to release on May 3, 2024, by Marvel Studios.
