Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame proved to be the true ending for several original Avengers, as the likes of Captain America, Black Widow, and Iron Man came together to reverse Thanos’ exploits and collect the Infinity Stones.

The narrative was so long that Marvel Studios went with a two-part finale for Infinity Saga and initially even named the movies Avengers: Infinity War Part I and Avengers: Infinity War Part II. As such, Infinity War stands as one of the most, if not the most, important movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 3.

However, if we go by Tomatometer scores of Rotten Tomatoes, the Russo brothers-directed movie sits way down at the 15th place among the highest-rated Marvel movies.

Avengers: Infinity War Ranked Lower Than Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man and the Wasp

In Avengers: Infinity War, the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy attempt to stop Thanos, an intergalactic warlord, from bagging all the infinity stones. Thanos is prepared to go to any lengths to realize his insane plan of trimming the universe’s population.

The movie was a huge hit and perfectly rolled out the carpet for the final clash against Thanos in Avengers: Endgame. The success was aptly reflected in its worldwide collection, which crossed the historic $2 billion mark. The $2,048,359,754 global box office collection is only bettered (among MCU movies) by Endgame, which managed to get close to the $3 billion mark.

Despite sitting second in the earnings charts, Infinity War has got a very underwhelming score on the reputable rating and review platform, Rotten Tomatoes.

If we strictly go by what critic scores say on Rotten Tomatoes, Ant-Man and the Wasp (87%) has out-buzzed Infinity War (85%). Still, it must be noted Rotten Tomatoes’ ratings are calculated in a very different way to traditional scores. As long as 60% of reviews for any movie or TV series are positive, it’s reflected with a Red tomato (fresh) beside it. When the score is less than 60%, the movie gets a green tomato (rotten).

So all this says is that 87% of reviews for Paul Rudd‘s movie are positive, while the Robert Downey Jr starrer is viewed positively by 85% of reviewers. Now whether the final score of 87% is made up of 10/10 or 6/10 (and so on) individual ratings remain unknown, making it difficult to separate movies that have critic scores in the same ballpark.

Meanwhile, on IMDb, there’s absolutely no competition between the two movies. Infinity War is rated at 8.4/10, while Ant-Man and the Wasp return home with a relatively underwhelming rating of 7/10.

The Highest-Grossing Superhero Movies Ranking Ant-Man 2

There’s no doubt Rudd’s 2018 movie, which sees Scott Lang help Dr. Hank Pym to enter the quantum realm, is flattered by the Tomatometer score. However, when it comes to the most important metric, it fails to be even in the same league as Avengers: Infinity War.

As mentioned earlier, Infinity War only sits behind Endgame in making Marvel Studios the most amount of money. The same is true when we consider the list of highest-grossing movies in the whole superhero genre.

In this list, Ant-Man and the Wasp sit at the 48th position courtesy of its worldwide earnings of $622,674,139.
