During her career, 67-year-old Whoopi Goldberg has been at the center of media attention due to her controversial remarks, especially on her show ABC’s The View. Even after facing a vast ordeal, she stood firm on her holocaust remarks despite making strong criticism on various topics due to her strong opinion on various social issues. Due to her actions, she was even suspended from The View for two weeks in February 2022.

A celebrity is responsible for setting an example to the people around them, raising the issues that must be addressed, and showing respect to members of different cultures. It appears, however, that she has learned from her past behavior as she dealt with an embarrassing incident very lightly and remained calm throughout the event. On a last month episode of The View, an audience member made an insulting remark about the moderator Whoopi Goldberg on live television; however, she handled the situation respectfully and maturely.

Whoopi Goldberg Confronts The Audience Member Who Insulted Her On Live TV

The View moderator Whoopi Goldberg, 67, confronted a heckler during the January 18 episode of the ABC talk show for allegedly calling her an ‘old broad’ and tried to insult her openly on live TV. However, the host handled the situation with remarkable tact and positivity, which was commendable. At the beginning of the episode, when Goldberg was taking her seat around The View table with other moderators, an audience member yelled at her and called her ‘old broad.’

When she heard that comment, Goldberg immediately responded,

“Did you just call me an old broad? Yeah?”

She said, referring to a female audience member,

“She said, ‘You old broad,’ and I was like, hey, it’s Wednesday, and I am an old broad, and happy about it.”

Then, her co-host Sunny Hostin told Goldberg,

“Being an ‘old broad’ is better than ‘the alternative.’”

Goldberg replied,

“The alternative is not attractive to any of us. We all want to be old broads and old dudes, you know?”

Shortly thereafter, the cameraman cut to the face of a woman wearing a fur hat and continued throughout the episode. During the next episode of The View, Goldberg clarified that the camera was pointed at the wrong audience member.

The View Moderator Clears Fur-Hatted Audience Member Of “Old Broad” Comment

A fur-hatted woman was filmed in the audience when an audience member allegedly yelled “old broad” at Whoopi Goldberg. This occurred when The View moderators entered and took their seats on the show. As a result of the cameraman’s focus following those brutal remarks, controversy arose regarding the fur-hatted woman.

A week later, Goldberg acquitted the woman of all heckling charges in the next episode’s end. Following the incident, she discussed the wrong audience member having been targeted and said,

“The cameras showed a different audience member than the one who actually yelled ‘old broad.’ I’m clearing this woman’s good name. She is a loyal audience member.”

“Please leave her alone.”

That unidentified woman appeared again wearing a new hat in the audience as the cameraman captured her during that episode. Moreover, Goldberg assured her fans that she was not angry or upset about the shout-out since it was a jokey and light moment.

Whoopi Goldberg Was Once Suspended For Two Weeks From The View

Several hot topics have been raised in recent months regarding Goldberg, including her repeated use of the Holocaust slur that resulted in her suspension from the show in 2022. ABC News president Kim Godwin announced Goldberg’s suspension on the night of February 1, 2022. Later, on Wednesday’s View, Joy Behar took Goldberg’s place in the moderator’s chair and said, “be back here in two weeks.”

Goldberg later apologized and said,

“Recently, while doing press in London, I was asked about my comments from earlier this year. I tried to convey to the reporter what I had said and why and attempted to recount that time.”

“It was never my intention to appear as if I was doubling down on hurtful comments, especially after talking with and hearing people like rabbis and old and new friends weighing in.”

She continued,

“I’m still learning a lot, and believe me, I heard everything everyone said to me. I believe that the Holocaust was about race, and I am still as sorry now as I was then that I upset, hurt, and angered people.”

“My sincere apologies again, especially to everyone who thought this was a fresh rehash of the subject. I promise it was not.”

After being suspended for two weeks following heated comments she made about the Holocaust on The View on Monday, January 31, 2022, she returned to the show. In welcoming viewers to the show, Goldberg took the position of the moderator at the table and stated her opinion about the importance of the role she’s playing on the show.
