Fans are eagerly waiting for the release of Thor: Love and Thunder. The film not only features Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman as the two Thors but also includes the Guardians (or Asgardians) of the Galaxy. However, despite the inclusion of fan-favorite characters, the film’s rating on Rotten Tomatoes has greatly plummeted, leaving the fans in disbelief.

The film, which is the fourth installment of the Thor series, now has a rating of 71 percent on the Rotten Tomatoes website, which is lower than its predecessor, Thor: Ragnarok, which had a rating of 93 percent. Moreover, the film has been critiqued widely by critics. Nick Schager from The Daily Beast wrote,

“Everything is pitched at such a frantically insistent pace that the intended laughs die on the vine.”

Joshua Ryan from Fandom Wire gave the film a 7.5/10 rating but criticized the overuse of comedy and stated,

“In a way, Thor loses the “Mighty” aspect of his title “The Mighty Thor.” Gone are the qualities of leadership, confidence and the ability to instill intimidation into the hearts of his foes; replaced with the continuously growing buffoonery and idiocy that the character has come to be known for.”

“After the film opens with a prologue for Gorr the God Butcher, Thor: Love and Thunder almost completely undoes that promise for a new adventure through an egregious cycle of rinse and repeat. Aside from the fact that there are new characters at play, it quite literally feels like you’re watching a movie you’ve already seen before. The film in question is obviously Thor: Ragnarok. Taika Waititi goes through almost all the motions of what made his first MCU outing stand out so well, but this time he’s allowed to go more quirky with his distinguishable humour.”

Fans’ opinions were divided after the low rating of the film

The low Rotten Tomatoes rating, combined with the negative reviews by the critics, sent Twitter into a frenzy.

However, it is possible that the film’s rating might change after its release since the film is highly anticipated by MCU fans. Moreover, the fans will likely love the film despite the critics’ opinions.
