Denis Villeneuve‘s Dune hit the theatres earlier this week and received good reviews from both the audience and critics. However, Denis was upset with WB’s decision to release it on the online streaming platform at the same time. But it didn’t affect the movie much it seems since it has recovered more than half of the budget amount! Moreover, Denis expressed his views on WB not considering a sequel already for the movie, or with the fact that making both of them together could’ve saved them the costs. Better late than never, the studio decided to give green light to the sequel, and here it is! Check it out:

Dune: Part Two Officially Confirmed; To Be Released In October 2023

Legendary Entertainment in a tweet announced that Dune: Part Two is official and will release on 20th October 2023. Check the tweet below:

Denis was clear from the start that he won’t compromise the screen time of characters, since all of them are essential. Frank Herbert’s novel was vast and he decided to divide it into two because the movie was time-bound. So, Dune ended with a cliffhanger. Therefore, a sequel was the only option that could’ve let Dune make sense!

Dune heavily featured Zendaya’s Chani in the movie’s marketing campaigns but had very less screen time. She was only seen in dream sequences and guided Paul. They might have used her face for marketing to attract an audience since she has a solid fanbase. Moreover, Denis needed to create this hype around her character. Why? That’s because he said, Zendaya’s Chani will be the main character who’ll be explored properly in Dune 2. Chani’s dialogue “This is only the beginning” does give a basis for a sequel and acts as a tagline for the movie itself.
