Dune: What Was So Amusing About Sharon’s Encounter With Jason Momoa?
Before release, Dune was in the news because its director stated that MCU films are repetitive. Some criticized him, some supported him. After the film’s release, it is in news for being good with its visuals, scope, and ambition. Dune is an epic sci-fi directed by Denis Villeneuve. The movie is an adaptation of the novel by the same name by Frank Herbert. Denis revealed that they’ve planned to divide the novel into two parts. This movie has the first part of the novel. It features an ensemble cast. It stars Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Dave Bautista, Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Stellan Skarsgård, and Sharon Duncan-Brewster. What Was So Amusing About Sharon’s Encounter With Jason Momoa?
Sharon never met Momoa in person before this film. However, her first encounter with him was hilarious. She recalls the desert where they were filming was “immense“. It felt like they were in the cinema already. This was the first time she met Momoa. Anybody who’d meet Jason for the first time would drool over his looks, but Sharon. She was fascinated by his size. She remembers that as he was approaching her, he kept getting bigger and bigger. What’s amusing is that her encounter with Momoa was “extraordinary” because of his size! Here’s her full statement where she cannot stop emphasizing how big Jason is:
“So I’m there getting ready, we’ve got these lovely little mini homes that we get ready in and we can stay cool in, and I’m outside just pottering around, Jason comes out of his car, and he walks towards me and he’s walking at me from a distance, but then he gets bigger, and then he gets bigger, and I was like, is this going to stop? Because he’s tall, he’s a great guy, so I’m looking up here and going, oh, this is what they’re talking about because all my friends are like, oh my gosh, Jason Momoa and you’re working with all these gorgeous human beings, the big moment was just being there in this vast, beautiful, backdrop, but also yes, meeting Jason Momoa for my first scene was quite extraordinary too because he just doesn’t stop growing somehow.”
Did This Encounter Affect Sharon’s Performance In Dune?
No matter how fascinated she was with Momoa and his size, she didn’t let it affect her performance in the film. She gave her best. The early reviews of the film seem to be positive.
Sharon Duncan-Brewster plays Dr. Liet-Kynes. She’s an imperial planetologist, an ecologist, and a native inhabitant of the desert planet Arrakis. Before her role as Dr. Liet-Kynes in Dune, she has worked on projects like Netflix’s Sex Education, and Rogue One (2016). Denis has made some significant changes to her character in the film as compared to the novel’s version to suit the purpose of the film. On the other hand, Jason Momoa plays the role of Duncan Idaho. He’s a swordmaster and works for the House Alteides. Moreover, he’s a trusted advisor to Duke Leto (Isaac). Before this, we all knew Momoa for his role as Aquaman in DCEU and other projects like Sweet Girl (2021) and Braven (2018).
