Ed Sheeran Went Blind After Smoking Too Much Weed With Snoop Dogg Before a Live Show in Australia
Ed Sheeran is undoubtedly one of the best singers of his generation. Having sold more than 150 million records worldwide, he is one of the world’s best-selling music artists. He started writing songs at the age of eleven and embarked on his journey to become one of the best musicians of all time independently in 2011.
Thereafter, Ed Sheeran signed with different record labels over the years before he signed himself to his own record label Gingerbread Man Records which he started in 2015. The English singer-songwriter unsurprisingly hangs out with some of the best singers in the industry. However, hanging out with Snoop Dogg did not end too well for him.
Ed Sheeran Had Trouble Seeing after Getting High with Snoop Dogg
Someone as popular as Ed Sheeran is bound to have connections with high-profile in the industry. From Taylor Swift to Justin Bieber, the Shape of You singer is friends with a lot of great pop musicians. Consequently, when he went to one of Snoop Dogg’s shows in Melbourne, with his wife Cherry Seaborn, and mother-in-law, he was invited backstage by the rapper.
The Castle on the Hill singer recalled his interaction with Snoop Dogg on an episode of Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend. He told the talk show host turned podcaster Conan O’Brien how Dogg and his entourage started smoking blunt after blunt backstage.
Although Sheeran is not a smoker himself, he thought that he should participate in smoking with everyone else just so he could tell everyone that he smoked with Snoop Dogg. While recounting the incident, he told O’Brien:
“I have a bit and I’m like, ‘I don’t feel too bad, this is good.’ Then I have a bit more, and I have a bit more, and I have a bit more… Oh my god. I just remember looking at him and being like, ‘I can’t see right now!'”
Temporarily losing his eyesight must have been scary for Ed Sheeran. It might have been a side effect of smoking too much weed and since the singer was not a regular smoker, it might have been a traumatizing experience.
Ed Sheeran Has Seen an Artist Smoke More Weed Than Anyone Else
During the podcast, Conan O’Brien also opened up about his experience with Snoop Dogg. O’Brien recounted how he smoked so much weed with the Drop It Like It’s Hot rapper in his dressing room before an episode of Late Night with Conan O’Brien that the smoke filtered out into the studio and the audience got high.

While on the topic of weed and smoking, Ed Sheeran went on to reveal the artist he had seen ingest the most amount of weed. In fact, the Bad Habits singer said that he works with the artist named Burna Boy quite often. He said: “There’s an artist that I work quite a lot with called Burna Boy, and I’d say that’s the most I’ve ever seen anyone ingest weed.”
One of Sheeran’s most memorable experiences of smoking with Burna Boy was when he was scheduled to perform at night and they smoked so much weed earlier that day that he was having an out-of-body experience again.
