Billy Kametz, a beloved voice actor, passed away after enduring Stage IV colon cancer treatment. In April 2022, the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and Pokémon voice actor confirmed his illness, after which he promptly began chemotherapy while relocating closer to home.

For his role of Naofumi Iwatani in The Rising of the Shield Hero in 2019, Kametz won Best Voice Actor Performance (EN) at the 4^th Crunchyroll Anime Awards. He also voiced characters in anime series such as Attack on Titan, Boruto, Demon Slayer, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure (Josuke Higashkata), Pokémon Journeys (Ren), and Neon Genesis Evangelion (Shigeru Aoba). Naofumi Iwatani in The Rising of the Shield Hero

Naofumi Iwatani is a fictional character that appears in Aneko Yusagi’s light novel The Rising of the Shield Hero, which was drawn by Seria Minami. After being wrongly convicted of sexually assaulting a princess and being given the Legendary Shield, the character gains the title of “Shield Hero” and embarks on a path of hatred toward society. Kametz won Best Voice Actor Performance (EN) at the 4^th Crunchyroll Anime Awards for his role of Naofumi Iwatani in The Rising of the Shield Hero in 2019.

Josuke Higashikata in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable

David Production’s JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable is a Japanese anime television series. The third season of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is titled Diamond is Unbreakable. It featured 39 episodes and was published in English on April 19, 2018. The primary character Josuke Higashikata, Joseph Joestar’s illegitimate son, was voiced by Billy Kametz.

Niccolo in Attack on Titan

Niccolo is a former Marleyan soldier who served in Marley’s Navy and was part of the first survey fleet to Paradis Island after the failed Paradis Island Operation. After being taken captive, he begins working on the island as a chef for the Eldian military.

Koushou Shinogi is a strong karate fighter that once fought Baki Hanma. The younger brother of Kureha Shinogi, and an expert in himokiri karate, a style where the attacks are not blunt blows, but slashes that cut the opponent. His special technique allows him to cut his opponents’ nerves, blood vessels, and lymph ducts. Billy Kametz gave this character a voice. 

Ari in Vinland Saga

Vinland Saga is a Japanese historical anime television series created by Hiroshi Seko and Kenta Ihara and directed by Shuhei Yabuta. It featured 24 episodes and was released on July 7, 2019. Ari’s character was given a voice by Billy Kametz.

Ren in Pokémon

Voiced by Billy Kametz – Ren is a trainer first introduced at Gearen Laboratory as Professor Jenner’s assistant. He has a preference for Dark-type Pokémon and is trying to find a way to get Goldenleaf Town to become more open to outsiders again. He’s the twin brother of Reina.
