Bill Cosby was once one of the most popular comedians in America. Having kickstarted his career as a stand-up comedian in the 1960s at a nightclub in San Francisco, he released numerous stand-up comedy albums, earning him the Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album from 1965 to 1970.
However, all the fame and respect he had earned started chipping away over the years when new allegations kept coming Cosby’s way. The person who stood by his side through the good times and the bad is his wife Camille Cosby, who has been married to him since 1964. Reportedly, she is one of the richest spouses in America.
Bill Cosby’s Wife Camille Cosby Allegedly Still Has Control Over His Assets
Besides being a comedian, Bill Cosby has also worked as a lead actor alongside Robert Culp on the show I Spy, which aired from 1965-68. His performance made him the first African American to win a Primetime Emmy Award. Not to mention he has won several awards and honorary degrees, some of which were revoked following the s*xual assault allegations made against him.
According to an insider’s statement to Radar Online, Camille Cosby was granted the power of attorney when her husband was imprisoned in a prison in Pennsylvania for three years for drugging and sex*ally assaulting Andrea Constand in 2004 (via The New York Times). The insider said:
“When it comes to assets, everything is under Camille.”
In 2019, when Cosby underwent two surgeries and blood pressure concerns arose while he was in prison, his wife was put in charge of his assets, which were once reportedly worth $400 million, in light of his deteriorating health (via Radar Online).
The insider also shared that his wife was supposed to be removed from the power of attorney after his conviction was overturned in 2021. However, that did not happen. Consequently, she still has control over his assets.
The Cosbys Are Not Separating Despite Rumors
There had been speculation that the couple were on the verge of separation because of the allegations against Cosby. However, representative Andrew Wyatt denied any such thing going on between the two. Wyatt told Radar Online:
“She’s not leaving him. He’s 86 and she’s almost 80. She wouldn’t divorce him now. It doesn’t make sense.”
The rep laughed off the speculation that Bill Cosby was living at his Philadelphia mansion and that his wife was staying more than 300 miles away in a different house. He also revealed that they keep switching from their Masachaussets home to their New York properties.
The Cosbys celebrated their sixtieth marriage anniversary earlier this year. It was nothing extravagant because their funds have been depleting due to the allegations piling against the comedian (via Radar Online). Even so, The Electric Company star kept a tradition alive by decorating their house with flowers of every kind.
