Hayden Christensen Reacts to Darth Vader Appearance Rumours in Ahsoka
The guaranteed rematch between Darth Vader and his old ally, friend, and Jedi Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, is raising a lot of hype. After witnessing fan favorites Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, and even Temuera Morrison (Captain Cody) return to the Kenobi series on Friday, every Star Wars fan will be holding back tears.
Other than this, there’s no information on when McGregor or Christensen will return to the franchise, but there are speculations that Darth Vader may appear in Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni’s Ahsoka. However, the Anakin Skywalker actor is dismissing reports of an Ahsoka appearance. Another Star Wars program coming to Disney+ is the Rosario Dawson-led series Ahsoka, which will revolve around the fan’s favorite character.
Hayden on Darth Vader appearance in Ahsoka
When queried about it by Capital FM while on the press tour for Obi-Wan Kenobi, Christensen claimed he has no knowledge of the situation. McGregor, on the other hand, remained completely silent throughout. Despite the host’s earnest efforts to obtain any information, Christensen maintained that he has no knowledge of Ahsoka’s status.
“I don’t know, I can’t really speak to the Ahsoka series. I don’t know about that one.“
The fact that Lucasfilm has already arranged for Christensen to return to Star Wars makes it difficult to imagine that he won’t be engaged in other projects where a Vader or Anakin appearance would be beneficial to the plot. Aside from being a thoughtful gesture of fan service, seeing Vader – and, maybe more significantly, Anakin – in Ahsoka can actually improve the show, given their history. It might also explain Ahsoka’s bond with Luke Skywalker, as revealed in The Book of Boba Fett. However, Christensen is still tight-lipped on how, so fans will have to wait for further formal confirmation.
Ways in which Christensen can be involved
Ahsoka’s narrative was developed further in The Clone Wars series and Star Wars: Rebels after she was first presented as Anakin’s Padawan in the animated feature Star Wars: The Clone Wars. She didn’t make her live-action debut until season 2 of The Mandalorian, with Dawson playing the role. The very first Disney+ Star Wars series also established the plot for Ahsoka’s journey, revealing that she is on the lookout for Grand Admiral Thrawn. This indicates that the Ahsoka show occurs after the events of the original trilogy and Darth Vader’s death in Return of the Jedi. As a consequence, Christensen can still participate in the project in a few ways. For example, Ahsoka could have flashbacks; alternatively, the former Jedi Master and Padawan might re-connect with Anakin Skywalker as a Force ghost.
Ahsoka starring Rosario Dawson and will air exclusively on Disney+ in 2023. Whereas, two episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi will air on Disney+ on Friday, May 27, 2022. The other four will then be released weekly on Wednesdays from June 1 until June 22.
