Hilary Swank May Forever Hate The Office for What They Said about Her
American actor turned producer Hilary Swank has been a part of movies like Freedom Writer, Million Dollar Baby, P.S. I Love You, and The Hunt. The 49-year-old actor rose to fame with the 1999 released movie Boys Don’t Cry. She even earned an Oscar For her performance in Boys Don’t Cry.
Hilary Swank was furious when The Office characters openly debated about her looks in one of the episodes of the widely watched show.
Hilary Swank Reacted On The Office Episode Based On Her
The Hilary Swank episode from The Office featured the characters from the show openly talking about her looks. She was dragged for her looks and did not appreciate the subplot of the episode. During an interview with the reputed media outlet Time in 2010, Hilary Swank was asked about watching the controversial episode from The Office. The Academy Award-winning actor replied-
“I’m not a big television watcher, but definitely everyone made me aware of it. It’s flattering anytime someone mentions you. But I don’t think of myself in terms of that.”
While talking about the condition of female actors in Hollywood, Swank further added-
“There is so much [emphasis] put on the way we look, which is interesting, going back to the Office question. Are you hot, or are you not? It really does a disservice. There’s so much more to life than looking a certain way.”
The double standards of Hollywood have always made headlines. No matter how talented an actress is, they have always been subjected to unrealistic beauty standards set by Hollywood.
Gerard Butler Almost Killed Hilary Swank During The Filming Of P.S. I Love You
Hilary Swank collaborated with Scottish actor Gerard Butler for the romantic drama P.S. I Love You in 2007. During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show in 2023 Gerard Butler spoke about P.S. I Love You, his co-star, and how he almost killed her. He revealed that his character Gerry Kennedy was supposed to get hit on the face with a suspender clip during a scene, which by mistake went on to hit Swank’s head. He said-
“It gets stuck, it releases [and] flies over my head, hits her in the head — slashes her head. I cut her open. You could even see the teeth [of the clip]. She had to get taken to the hospital.”

The Olympus Has Fallen actor further added-
“Imagine this studio, and in three seconds, everybody’s gone. And I’m just sitting there in my Irish [shamrock] boxer shorts and my boots and a pair of socks, and I just started crying. I scarred Hilary Swank. I almost took her eye out, and I just made a fool of myself for two days.”
The Richard LaGravenese-directed romantic drama P.S. I Love You is based on the 2004 novel of the same name authored by Cecelia Ahern. With a production budget of $30 million, P.S. I Love You went on to make a box office collection of $156.8 million.
