Zack Snyder says he does not know why he is called ‘polarizing’ filmmaker

Filmmaker Zack Snyder is behind several superhero movies. He recently spoke about the genre during an interview with The Atlantic while promoting Rebel Moon. He claimed that he had a similar kind of fatigue that the entire genre was dealing with, and described comic-book adaptations as a “Cul-de-sac” adding; “now no one thinks they’re going to a one-off the superhero movie.”

Snyder had noted that he would return to finish the Man of Steel saga if Netflix held the rights but seems in no rush to revisit his DC Characters. He said,

“I’m not knocking on James Gunn’s door, going like, ‘Bro, shoot me one of those sweet movies. The holy grail is some original IP that you create, that has resonance and is cool.”

In his profile with The Atlantic, the director noted that he doesn’t understand why is he referred to as a ‘polarizing’ filmmaker. He said,

“Everyone’s like, you’re polarizing figure. You know, love him or hate him. I am like, love him or hate him? What did I do? How did I get hate him?”

Many critics have had unkind words towards Snyder’s works but his dedicated fans are always right there to support him. Just like how they ran a successful campaign for Warner Bros., to release the Snyder Cut of Justice League.

Zack Snyder says it’ll be cool to see a 20-year-old James Bond

In his profile for The Atlantic for Rebel Moon, the filmmaker suggested that it would be nice to see a 20-year-old James Bond. He mentioned,

“The humble roots that he comes from. Whatever trauma of youth that makes you be able to be James Bond. There has to be something there.”

Franchise producer Michael G. Wilson has already quashed the rumors about a young man portraying the character. In an interview with Radio Times, casting director Debbie McWilliams had noted,

“We did look at a lot of younger actors and I just don’t think they had the gravitas. They didn’t have the experience, they didn’t have the mental capacity to take it on, because it’s not just the part they’re taking on it’s a massive responsibility.”

Well, it seems like Snyder’s dream to see a 20-year-old James Bond would not come true anytime soon. No actor or director for James Bond has been announced following the exit of Daniel Craig.

The first part of Rebel Moon is streaming on Netflix with a second part that will follow in April 2024.
