Who Are The Three Judges This Season?

This season of the reality show will have three judges. The Country Girl singer Luke Bryan, pop star Katy Perry and All Night Long singer Lionel Richie will be the judges for the sixth time again. The trio has been united since the show’s 2018 ABC revival.

The three judges have demonstrated to the world how well they get along with one another throughout the years. In an interview on Good Morning America, Lionel said: “But over the years now, we trust each other to the point of  we kind of know what we’re thinking, where we’re going with this.”

Lionel Richie: Lionel Richie has been a member of the American Idol judging panel for five seasons, beginning with his first appearance in 2018. The renowned musician, known for his witty and considerate comments, always offers the finalists wise counsel. Richie rose to fame in the 1970s as the second lead vocalist for the “Commodores.” Along with Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, and Michael Jackson, he was considered Motown royalty and played a significant role in redefining American pop. One of his four Grammy Award-winning songs is “Easy,” along with “Sail On,” “Three Times a Lady,” and “Still.”

Luke Bryan: For American Idol’s 21st season, country music sensation Luke Bryan joined Katy Perry and Richie in their comeback. His friendly manner and supportive remarks reassure the competitors, while the other judges find him to be a fun companion. Before competing on American Idol, Bryan established himself in the country music scene. The songs “Country Girl (Shake It for Me),” “Drink a Beer,” and “Drunk on You” are some of his best-known works.

Katy Perry: In the past, Perry has been open about how she is inspired by the optimistic candidates that audition and how the process makes her reflect on her own musical path. Before joining the American Idol judging panel permanently, she took part as a guest judge in Season 9.

The American Idol judges’ salaries (past and present) demonstrate that the singing competition was never reluctant to pay a lot of money for top-tier talent, even though the show isn’t as popular with viewers as it once was.

Curious to know how much this season’s judges will take home? Read on for details about their unbelievable salaries.

Lionel Richie: According to CelebrityNetWorth.com, Richie makes the least money out of the three judges, yet the sum is still nothing to laugh at given that he earns $10 million per season. Richie has been involved in the music industry since the 1960s, becoming most well-known for his time with the Commodores and his 1980s solo career. Richie has performed on stage well into the new millennium and has sold over 90 million records over his career.

Luke Bryan: Luke Bryan has a lower net worth than Lionel Richie but earns more money on American Idol. Along with Perry and Richie, Bryan joined the American Idol judging panel in 2017 and reportedly earns $12 million for it. Bryan has performed on numerous tours over the years and has sold over 7 million CDs.

Katy Perry: Firework singer tops the list. Perry’s paycheck comes out to a whopping $25 million per season, more than both Lionel and Luke’s combined, a history-making deal at the time when she was brought on as the “anchor” judge in 2017. However, Perry hinted in 2020 that this wasn’t quite accurate, saying, “It’s not always what’s reported.
