‘I Consider Myself On My Last Leg’: Brad Pitt Follows Bruce Willis, Hints Retirement
After nearly 30 years in the entertainment industry, Brad Pitt finally hints at his retirement in his August 2022 GQ cover story. Brad Pitt, who began acting at the age of 22, has starred in iconic movies such as Fight Club, Moneyball, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and Ocean’s Eleven series.
Brad Pitt hints that his years as an actor might soon come to an end
Brad Pitt is 58 now and fans see less of him than they once did. In the interview, he said he is thinking carefully about what’s ahead, about the path that he wants to chart for the final stages of his career. “I consider myself on my last leg,” he said, “this last semester or trimester. What is this section gonna be? And how do I wanna design that?”
The actor went on to talk about his search for authenticity as an actor. “Out here in California, there’s a lot of talk about ‘being your authentic self.’ It would plague me, what does ‘authentic’ mean? [For me] it was getting to a place of acknowledging those deep scars that we carry.”

He also talked about quitting cigarettes
Brad Pitt also talked about his decision to quit smoking and get sober in the candid interview. His journey to sobriety began in 2016, when his then-wife, Angelina Jolie, filed for a divorce. He told the magazine that he decided to stop smoking during the COVID-19 pandemic because he is “at that age when nothing good comes from it.”
“I think joy’s been a newer discovery, later in life,” he shared. “I was always moving with the currents, drifting in a way, and onto the next. I think I spent years with a low-grade depression, and it’s not until coming to terms with that, trying to embrace all sides of self—the beauty and the ugly — that I’ve been able to catch those moments of joy.”
He also told the magazine that he attended Alcoholics Anonymous. “I had a really cool men’s group here that was really private and selective, so it was safe, because I’d seen things of other people who had been recorded while they were spilling their guts, and that’s just atrocious to me.”

Angelina Jolie, 47, filed for divorce in September 2016 after two years of marriage and 12 years of being together. They were declared legally single in April 2019 but they still have to resolve a lot of issues including the custody of their children.
He told GQ that he has been “pretty much hiding out” in the once “run-down and dilapidated” house, but fans will see him once again as he will soon emerge again to promote his latest film, Bullet Train, which hits theaters on August 5th, 2022.
