“I Didn’t Want Her to Be In Tight Suits”: Florence Pugh Avoided One Scarlett Johansson’s Mistake With Black Widow
Having made her acting debut in 2014, Florence Pugh has started to make quite the name for herself in the industry. She has worked in a number of TV shows and movies that have been critically acclaimed and is even considered to be one of the best actors of the current generation.
One of her most famous roles is in MCU’s Black Widow which was released back in 2021. In the movie, Pugh played the role of Yelena Belova. Moreover, she has also played the same role in Hawkeye as well. Interestingly, she has opened up about how she wanted to avoid one thing for her role in the show.
Florence Pugh did not want to be in tight suits like Scarlett Johansson
Despite Yelena Belova being one of MCU’s most popular characters post-infinity era, her existence is always tied with Scarlett Johansson’s character because of being a Black Widow.
Moreover, their uniforms also have a similar design language. However, Florence Pugh wanted to avoid a trend seen in Black Widow’s costumes. While speaking to The Direct, Pugh revealed that she did not want her character Yelena to be in tight suits, something Scarlett Johnson’s Natasha Romanoff is well known for. She said:
“One thing that I really wanted with Yelena was that I didn’t want her to be in tight suits … I didn’t want her to be a silhouette. I wanted her to be in clothes that she could fight in, that are a different look to what we’ve seen before.”
