Robyn Rihanna Fenty, a Barbadian singer, actress, and businesswoman, had a very disturbed childhood due to the strained relationship between her parents. Rihanna’s Major Career Milestones

In May 2005, Rihanna released her single debut Pon De Replay under the mononym Rihanna. The song was a hit in multiple countries and the very next year in 2006, Rihanna made her acting debut with a cameo role in the film Bring It On: All or Nothing. Her second album, A Girl Like Me was a huge commercial success and sold over 1,000,000 units worldwide. Good Girl Gone Bad, her third album was applauded with most positive remarks.

The singer has delivered numerous international hits and all of them have sold millions of copies worldwide. Apart from her massively successful singing career, Rihanna has made a mark for herself in other fields too. In 2015, she signed a contract with Samsung worth $25 million for promoting Samsung’s Galaxy line of products, and in return, Samsung would sponsor the release of her eighth album and the supporting tour.

Rihanna as the new voice of Smurfette

On the final day of CinemaCon 2023, Paramount Pictures announced that Rihanna will be the new voice for the role of Smurfette in the upcoming The Smurfs movie. Rihanna will also record and co-produce some original songs for the film. She even joked while the announcement was made saying, “I tried to get the Papa Smurf role but It didn’t work out.”

The movie is expected to explore themes of identity and ask the central question, “What is a Smurf?” Before The Smurfs, Rihanna also voiced in the DreamWorks animated feature Home and the other live-action credits are Battleship, This is the End, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, Ocean’s 8, and Guava Island.

The movie is slated to hit the theatres on February 14, 2025, and it will be exciting to hear Rihanna in this newly bagged role. Rihanna’s motivation to do this voiceover extends beyond her professional aspirations and is rather personal. The master of multiple talents said what value being Smurfette shall hold for her in the future and even quoted,  “I hope this will give me brownie points with my children someday”.
