“I realize how lonely and afraid my mother must have been”: Angelina Jolie’s Heartwarming Letter for Her Late Mother
Along with being one of the biggest Hollywood stars, Angelina Jolie is also considered a good mother. The Oscar-winning actress is known for handling her career and raising six children at the same time. Although the actress often makes headlines for her Rocky relationship with her ex-husband, Brad Pitt, Jolie is also known for her loving relationship with her children.
Like her beauty, Jolie seems to have inherited the qualities of being a good mom from her mother. In a New York Times article, the Maleficent star opened up about her relationship with her mother and how the loss of her mother impacted her.
Angelina Jolie Was Seriously Affected by Her Mother’s Passing
Both of Angelina Jolie’s parents were actors. However, she was not always on the good terms with her father. Unlike her father, Jolie had a special bond with her mother, Marcheline Bertrand. Considering she had a very good relationship with her mother, the Wanted star was devastated after losing her in 2007.
Marcheline Bertrand passed away after being diagnosed with ovarian and breast cancer in 2007. Over a decade after her passing, The Tourist star opened up about losing her mother in a New York Times article. She shared that the loss of her mother changed so much for her.
“Losing a mother’s love and warm, soft embrace is like having someone rip away a protective blanket,” Jolie explained. She also shared how Marcheline Bertrand “loved to laugh” and knew exactly how to cheer her when she felt down.
The Taking Lives star also shared how she has also been able to realize how lonely her mother would have been, but even in the hardest time, she wanted to make sure that her children were all right.

Angelina Jolie’s Relationship With Her Mother
Angelina Jolie shared how her mother remained tough for her children even after her marriage fell apart. She said, “It set her dream of family life ablaze. But she still loved being a mother.” In the New York Times article, she also shared how Marcheline Bertrand used to sing her the Rolling Stones song, Winter.
‘“It sure been a cold, cold winter,’ she would sing to me. And at the line, ‘I wanna wrap my coat around you,’ she would wrap me up in my blankets and snuggle me.”
The Eternals star shared that she got a tattoo on her right hand after her mother passed away. While many assumed that the tattoo was the initial of her mother’s name, “Marcheline” she shared that it was of the Rolling Stones song her mother used to sing her, Winter.
Jolie also said that despite knowing that “her time left was running out,” her mother was still focused on her kids and their well-being. And now that she is also a mother, Jolie feels the same connection with her kids.
